We need a custom property of type URL for links to diffrent content. For example.
If I have specific content on my website for a white paper or a market study I would want quick access to that content from my Deal or Company record. also if we are woking off client specs that are held in a VDR (box, sharepoint, sharefiles, dropbox, googledrive) that the customer has profided I want to keep that link at my fingertips when I create the proposal.
Hi everyone! My name is Hallie, and I'm an Associate Program Manager on our CXM team here at HubSpot. I'm excited to share that the ability to have a URL property field type is currently in planning! Any future details around this being released will be shared right on this post, so keep your eyes open for those updates. 😊
In general, all URL/URI links entered in HubSpot should be clickable. This would include link addresses stored in a custom URL type property (Deals, Contacts, Companies, Objects, etc) as well as link addresses stored in built in properties such as the "Website" field in HubSpot Contacts.
Use-case: When creating a form, we would like to have a customer enter a valid URL, but we can't require a URL format in HubSpot because there are no URL field types when creating object properties.
Ex. If we use a single text field type, the customer could fill out the form field as "www.hubspot.great" and the form would accept it. We would like there to be an in-app warning that says something like "URL not valid", but single-text fields won't do that which is why we would like a URL-based property field type.
Makes sense to have this a validation format for URL type fields.
One thing to ensure is that the value is stored as encode text field in order to handle e.g. '?' and '&' in the URL. This is an issue other places in HubSpot, where you want to create or store a URL value.
Agreed! Many applications for a URL field. For us, we want to link to our Google Drive Project Folder for each deal. The rich text field works, but isn't very user friendly.
Would love the ability to have a "Button" field type to choose from when creating custom properties.
As a result of selecting the "Button" field type, the user would provide CTA copy (i.e. "Go to Report" or "Click Here") and also provide the destination URL.
This would be helpful in Views and Reports when providing the organization with information that links out of HubSpot but should be associated with a HubSpot record.
Yes, please! Very much want to use this for prospecting reports so that from a report we directly click to go to the lead's LinkedIn page. It's so hard to believe this can't be done!
I was JUST facing this challenge this morning. Seems like the implementation would be easy, but the security implications are probably what they are balking against. I suppose you could always route it through an intermediate confirmation page?? But that might be annoying too.
Seems like it should be an easy thing but I know from my background it is not. That said, I would LOVE if the effort was invested to make this happen. I mean links to get automatically picked up in the "Notes" object already so if they could just copy the implementation over from there I think it would work...
Agreed, this is a necessity. It would be ideal that the application will recognize a valid URL and automatically make as a hyperlink. I want to use a calculated field to concatenate data from latitude and longitude values into a Google Maps link.
I agree with everyone in this thread!! url's should be clickable in HubSpot. HubSpot is the only CRM I work with that doesn't have URL's clickable. I'm surprised to see that this has been requested by users for several years now with no response. How hard can it be to make valid links to websites, information, linkedin, etc clickable so you don't have to cut and paste? OR why can't you hover over the link, right click and say open in another tab? Now you have to open the field, copy the link, close the field making sure you didn't remove the link with the copy, got to another window, paste and open. Please fix this. Thanks!
It's very much needed and so very necessary! Validation exists for phone numbers and emails—so why not URLs? Domains have a consistent format that can be validated in real time so it should be feasible.
Our use case: We are currently running a promotion for new customers (specifically for companies that are not in our CRM). To ensure that the user is tied to the correct company after the form submission, we need a valid website URL as a failsafe in case the user inputs an email address (such as a gmail) that isn't associated with the company.
However, since the company website (and company domain) fields don't require an actual domain, this failsafe becomes useless, and as a result—the customer's company is not properly logged in our CRM and/or a duplicate company is made.
If you insert a link, Hubspot recognizes this and offers a small symbol when hovering with the mouse to open the link. But what would be much more interesting is the possibility of providing the link with alternative text and making it directly clickable (as is already possible with the company domain). It simply needs the hyperlink type as a property and a formula for creating a hyperlink should also be possible in the calculated property, or the hyperlink output type.
There are many users who do not recognize the symbol when hovering with the mouse and it is not really quick to click.
