Custom properties for Activities (Tasks, Meetings, etc.)

We currently have custom properties for contacts, deals, companies and tickets. We need custom properties for activities too, which means custom properties for task, meetings, calls, etc.

Examples:

- Calls: Aircall has to "print" text into the description for the call output

- Meetings: we want to confirm them 2 times. We can record in a structured way whether the meeting has been confirmed.

- Tasks: we'd like to have importance and urgency as inputs to define priority. We currently can't.

It's going to all allow finer management of tasks, calls, meetings, basically all activity types which a pre-requisite for activity-based workflows: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Activity-based-Workflows/idi-p/204852

As different activity types (calls vs meetings vs tasks) require different information, Hubspot should allow Admins to select which customer property applies to which activity type.

Hi! My name is Hallie, and I'm an Associate Program Manager on the Customer Experience Management team here at HubSpot. I'm excited to share that this feature request is currently being reviewed by our product teams! While we don't have an ETA yet of when this would be available, we understand how important this feature is to our customers, so we will be providing more updates as time goes on and timelines become more clear.

We appreciate your patience while a plan to implement this is discussed, and be sure to keep your eyes open for future updates on this post!

Not Currently Planned
April 27, 2020 03:57 PM

Hi Communnity,

Thank you all for sharing your feedback!

For transparency I am updating this issue to "Not Currently Planned" because we wont be able to get to this in the next quarter.

Best,

Glen

As an exmple of how this would be useful for meetings: a lot of SDRs / BDRs compensation plans are based on generating meetings. Ideally you would like to have ways tot rack these meetings and have them validated / qualified by someone else than the SDR / BDR. And you would also like to add insights to meetings to better understand why some were useful to close a deal or not (e.g.: video meeting, ...)

Really strange that this is still not prioritized more than 6 years after the idea was first proposed, and 4 years after it as deemed "not able to be relased by next quarter".

Upvote. This is incredibly helpful with tagging or categorizing prospecting emails and for our SDRs lead generation.

upvote.

Advanced filtering for reporting purposes is only possible by custom properties. This would significantly simplify things both for BDRs, Sales People and Managers as well

I wanted to flag here that I'm in conversations internally about moving to Salesforce from HubSpot because of this specific issue. Not being able to treat activities as a full object (associations, custom properties, workflows on record) is the #1 reason that we are looking to move away from HubSpot.

Treating Tasks as Objects is an important feature to allow customization and automation via workflows.
Without proper Task Management in HubSpot, there will always be additional tools required meaning moving outside of HubSpot, which potentially can lead to going for another tool entirely.

that would be a great feature

This would be very helpful. Our use case would be:

- Report on sales activities (meetings, notes, calls, etc.) that are assigned to a specific service or product category.

I'm astonished that after all this time, there is no way in Hubspot CRM to differentiate prospecting activities from deal-related and customer-related activities.

It'd be simple logic to set up with a custom activity property.

Instead, I'm forced to do this analysis in Excel / Google Sheets. It's immediately stale and limits the usefulness of Hubspot reporting and dashboarding.

I'm pushing our company to move to Salesforce because of this limitation.

This would be so helpful! I'm currently having to review all activity content to determine which bucket they fall into, as some of our sales team track every email and they don't all fit the criteria of what we want to track. It would be great to have the ability to add custom properties to be able to track certain attributes about activities, and to be able to go back into emails that have been automatically logged and update those properties after the fact.

This Idea was submitted roughly 5 years ago, and gets almost weekly upvotes.

Why hasn't anyone from HubSpot provided an update a to whether or not this feature might be implemented sinze 2024? I get that you couldn't get to it in the following quarter from the original post. But why no update since tehn when users continue to request this capability?

@MaggieB is there anything you can do please? This has been moved into the backlog years ago but has since been a very active topic here with hundreds of upvotes. I really think it needs to be reviewed. This is such an important requirement for us. Thank you!

the absence of this capability is even worse in the context of emerging AI capabilities - the opportunities that would be unlocked would be huge

The inability to customise activities, especially tasks, makes little sense when considering the goals of Sales or SUpport - to manage activities around the insert objects that describe the domain (ticket, company, lead, deal, contact). Each have tasks/activities applied to them in order for the solution to work (i/e/ close a ticket, progress a sale, maintain a relnship) - so not letting customers configure these severly restricts the capabilities of Hubspot, whilat introducing these add's value in excess of the cost of implementing.
