There needs to be an option for credit card payment fees to be passed onto the customer. We would like to offer credit card payments as a option but want to be able to notify the customer that if they use a cc then there is a fee attached. And the fee needs to be automated as part of the payment.
Hello all - Joe here from HubSpot product team. I wanted to provide an update and thank you for your continued feedback on this idea.
I want to be transparent that this capability has not been prioritized for the team this year. We're working hard to bring core billing capabilities to Commerce Hub such as the ability to store a payment method for future charges and automated sales tax. I will update this idea if we are able to prioritize this sooner, but until then please continue to upvote this idea so we can ensure this gets a slot on our future roadmap!
@TGordon05 I can definitely understand why you've suggested that workaround, that's creative! I'll pass this feedback along to our team that manges Products and Discount Codes; however, I can say that right now that isn't on the roadmap. I'm hopeful that we'll have more news to share on this front in the new year, so stay tuned.
Hi all - Joe here from the HubSpot product team. I wanted to share a quick update on this topic but first wanted to mention that I tried to find similar ideas and merged them into this Idea which had the most activity.
As of Q4 2023, we are actively reviewing this idea. Currently it is not on the roadmap with an explicit timline that I can share but I will return to this thread to post updates about progress. Please follow this thread and upvote if you're interested in this capability! Thanks.
already upvoted but wanted to add my voice to amplify the need for this feature... also, we need the ability to switch from our current Stripe integration in HubSpot to the HubSpot processor... why would we not be able to switch?

Wild that a 30Bn capitalized business can't prioritize having a developer add a basic feature that charges CC fees if the customer selects that method. WILD.
I can see why Hubspot doesn't want to introduce or prioritize this feature. Doing so may cannibalize their revenue stream from the 2.9% processing fees because the feature would likely force customers to use ACH more. However, with Hubspot’s most recent addition of a platform fee of 0.5% per all transactions plus the 2.9% fee (starting June 24, 2024) and ACH transactions increasing from 0.5% to 0.8% per transaction, it's only a matter of time before vendors begin pointing customers elsewhere for payments or to just request checks. It would be better that Hubspot add the feature to keep both vendors and customers on the platform – Win win!
Agreed. How can HubSpot be now looking to charge US a .5% commerce fee, but we still aren't yet able to define additional fees when the customer checks out based on payment method that they select?
This feature is also stopping us from using hubspot to collect credit card payments - We do this outside in STRIPE as our payments are high value and we need to pass on the credit card fee.
I'm a prospective customer with both a small business and a nonprofit, and sadly, this is a dealbreaker for me. The only way to get around it is to integrate with another service like Stripe, but HubSpot charges an uncapped .75% ontop of Stripe's charge. That's crazy to me that it's uncapped—they cap it when it's under their system, but not when it's under Stripe's.
Is there any update on this issue of passing CC fees onto the customer within HubSpot's Payment Processor? And if not, if we need to continue using Stripe for that feature, why doesn't HubSpot cap it?
This is one of the biggest problems we have (three months into using HS): When a quote is signed, and a customer wants to pay with a CC, we cannot edit the quote to include the credit card option with the fee after the fact. We then have to create a new invoice entirely. I upvoted, but I wanted to comment to boost.
This is a great idea. I UPVOTE! Credit cards tranactions% and fees are eating away at our margins and clients are willing to pay for this. Thank you! BP
Please prioritize this. Not having a simple option to pass credit card fees to the buyer (who is happy to pay for it), is costing us margin and making HubSpot payments operationally inefficient. Especially with the new commerce fees added, this must be a table-stakes feature before you start losing customers. Thank you.
Adding to this pile - most clients prefer ACH, but I just sent an invoice for a smaller client that might pay on CC, and I was baffled that there wasn't an option to add the surcharge. If they want to pay that way, I'm going to have to create an entirely new invoice, which is messy bookkeeping!
We desperately need this idea to be implemented to fully move over from our other processing system - this would be immensely helpful as our average order size is in the 70-100k range.
Hubspot is a long way behind on this. other payment platforms have a tick box. Seems like a VERY basic functionality missing here. Come on HS. Stop releasing half-baked products.
I am moving over from JobNimbus Payments to Hubspot. JobNimbus gives you the ability to charge a "convenience" fee to the customer in the amount of the CC transaction fee that is calculated automatically. It shouldnt be that diffcult to do.
