Create custom field that links to contacts

For each deal, we're collecting BANT - budget, authority, need and timeline. 

I would like to create a custome field, Authority, that is allows me to enter the contact record that has the budget authority. 

I've worked around this by creating a text field, and pasting the contacts HS URL there, but a better way would be to allow entering a contact record.
