Create custom activity types

HubSpot needs a feature to log custom activity types outside of the pre-defined notes, emails, calls, meetings, tasks, etc. This would allow for additional touchpoints to be tracked and provide a holistic view of the contact journey.

This would be so helpful! We have a couple of other channels we want to track in HubSpot and currently cannot differentiate sufficiently between them!

Absolutely useful! We constantly engage with clients through different channels, even through Slack or other tools. So adding the option to create custom activities would be great.

This is totally needed. I was looking for instructions on how to do this and found this instead. While we would prefer to create a custom activitiy, we have opted for a custom object that can be associated to the Company/Contact since that was our only solution. Hopefully this is something that is added in the near future.

Yes, please. Considering how flexible HubSpot is, was surprising to learn this was not already an option. Especially considering that there are so many unique types of client and prospect touches that can be identified and tracked not already listed. Thanks for asking!

100%. We'd love to have activity types like... "Shipped Order" which is relevant for other features of HubSpot, like "Invoicing" and "Products" 🙂

We also don't do "meetings" with customers, so being able to disable un-used activities would also be great

100% needed.

being able to add things like "Order Shipped" would be great, because HubSpot has invoicing and product capabilities.

We also don't use meetings, because we're an e-commerce company - so turning that off would be good too.

Other activity types we would create would be "Product Registration", "Warranty Claim" etc.

This is a very significant need and product gap within Hubspot. Expecting all activities to fall within the scope of the existing activity types is highly limiting for a large number of organizations using Hubspot CRM. While there are paths to generate custom timeline activities/events or leverage the custom events feature, these become less desirable when you have a broader tech stack where you want to leverage Hubspot as the centralized component of that stack as many integrated technologies do not natively integrate with these custom features (custom objects, custom events, custom timeline events).

I would heavily advocate for Hubspot to consider opening this functionality up. Understanding this has broader implications across the tool (e.g. what options show up under Timeline filters), it seems like there may be V1 approaches that could be taken on some of those impacted components (e.g. just make a "Custom" checkbox option that encompasses all custom Activity Types under the Activity Timeline Filters for Team Activity).

I understand that the recommended approach would likely be to use custom events here (especially given some of the recent updates made there), but it should also be considered that many of your customers have integrated technology stacks with most tools simply pulling in the more "standard" objects such as activities. This puts your customers in a bit of a tough spot in terms of how to best use Hubspot and it's functionality while getting the most out of their integrated tools as well.
