Create associations between the same object (company to company, contact to contact, deal to deal)

Hi

It would be fantastic to extend the new Associations feature to cover same-type object associations.

This is so we can map out associations between companies e.g. competitors, customers, partners and so on. In our context this helps us easily scale prospecting.

Then it'd be helpful to do the same with contacts (for example - Joe knows Bob from a previous company) and deals (for example - these deals are part of the same overall opp)

Thanks!

Any rough timeline on this? The data integrity issues caused by not being able to have same object associations (I don't consider legacy company parent/child relationships a real association, as it has no teeth from a platform perspective), especially company:company and deal:deal, have caused some in my company to question whether HubSpot can scale with our business. The hacky workarounds are very undesirable.

Does Hubspot even care about it ?

They had promised that this feature will be delivered by end of December.

They are one of those companies who really don't give a **bleep** !!!

We are regretting switching to HS.

@rwebb1 this feature has been in the planning since August 22nd. I would like to get an update on this. When do you expect to roll this out?

I have emails from HS team saying this feature is in development since the start of the year.

We just migrated from pipedrive to HS and the experience has been pathetic for sales team. We have downgraded actually. You cannot do cross object queries , cannot do more than one same object relationship. It is poorly thought out CRM.

Agree 100%.

I have two pipelines. A NET NEW Deal pipeline (General Pipeline) that tracks new deals. And a Customer Success Pipeline that tracks Renewals and Expansions. In the ideal world, a new deal object gets created in the Customer Success pipeline when a Deal in General Pipeline reaches Closed Won. However, sometimes (most of the time) the work Customer Success teams does initiates before the General Deal Object reaches Closed Won. Is there a way to link both Deals and somehow update a property value in the CS Deal Object that shows the original Deal object in General pipeline reaches Closed Won?

the General pipeline:
Stage Opportunity Investigation Decision Approval Commit Closed/Won Closed/Lost
the Customer Success pipeline
Stage Onboarding Adoption Growth Renewal Closed Won Closed Lost
in ideal world, a new Deal gets created in the Customer Success pipeline ONLY when the original Deal in the General pipeline reaches closed won, but we know that sometimes we initiate work on the Deal before signature

Hello.

I also need to associate a deal to another one : in our business, we usually sell a deployment program after a pilot, and I need to link a deployment deal to its pilot deal. To be able to track the conversion rate.

Thank you!

@TH7 have you heard about this feature going into beta, or are you referring to the update from @rwebb1  about it being on the roadmap?

If there is a beta ready to go we'd really like to be a part of it as the workarounds are making things quite tricky for a Deal process we're trying to implement. I've mentioned our Company-Company use case earlier in the thread, but with deals we have separate pipelines for sales and contracts, and we want to link each of a customer's contracts back to the closed sale which won that particular set of contracts. Our workaround involves adding the record ID of the sales deal to a custom property on the contract deal, but this isn't usefully hyperlinked and doesn't allow for additional metadata. Deal-Deal associations would allow the sales deal to appear in the right sidebar of contract deals, and would allow us to create a set of association labels between sales and contracts as well (some contracts will be based on an explicit signing, others will be rolled onto from an existing contract without a new agreement, for example).

@JWhelan1 I was referring to the update from @rwebb1 about it being on the roadmap.

Totally get your Deal to Deal usecase.

At my current company, I'm not fully satisfied with the OOB quota attainment sales analytics. I would like to be able to create a separate pipeline for goals (quota target pipeline) then link won deals to the relevant rep and month. With a calculation property, I would be able to sum the amount and calculate gap to target and % attainment.

Replying here to also confirm this would be amazing. It's 2023 and it would be nice to have an update from the Hubspot team.

Hello - yes that would be great to have it release  - thinking application to connect different deals that are created to a single tender / bid

YES this is exactly what we need! @rwebb1 any update on this?

Here's how we'd use it:

  • Every prospect company in our CRM has partners; those partners are also Companies labeled "Company Type: Partner"
  • I would love to associate the prospect companies with the partner companies

This would be hugely valuable for us. Right now we're going to have to use the parent or child association because there's no other way to make Company<>Company associations.

+1 for this feature.  We really need deal-deal, contact-contact and company-company associations

This could be really useful. There is a use case where there is a contract amendment and it would be awesome if we could associate the Deal that represents the amendment with the original contract Deal.

In addition, having a LookUp field type available for these associations would make it much easier for the end-user to find the other record to create the association.

The lookup field type is a must-have!

Every few months, I revisit this feature request and thread, always hopeful that progress has been made since the last update in August 2022. @rwebb1  Any chance you can share any updates or thoughts with potential timelines?
