Currently, you have no date property that tells you today's date. This is genuinely a critical function if you are going to compete with other CRMs. How can a sales team set and keep SLAs if they can only look at the time spent in stage retroactively? Please fix it or bring in a "Today's Date" field so people can work around it using a calculated property and some basic automation i.e.
Enters deal stage > set date picker to "date of entry"
Calc field = time between "Date of entry" & "Today's Date"
Report = all deals with "Calc field" >7
Automation = id "calc field">7 notify salesperson and manager.
This is a huge hole in the system and is going to cost your partner's deals. A simple addition like this would unlock a lot of potential within the system.
I came across this post and wanted to share that Professional & Enterprise tiers have two additional default Deal properties:
Time in current stage
Date entered current stage
These properties can be used to indicate the time a deal record has spend in its current deal stage, while the record is still in that stage. See the product update here for more details.
Hi @Mike_ , I'm wondering if you can set up the logic you describe using time until/time since properties. For example, I created a workflow updating a ‘Status’ property based on the value of a ‘time until subscription end date’ property (both are custom object properties). This workflow automatically updated the Status property when ‘time until subscription end date’ is less than 0 days (as in, the end date is in the past). Here’s a quick screenshot of my workflow setup.
@kaious - Thanks for that example! I understand the request. That said, I'm wondering if setting up two properties to do this calculation natively would be an improvement over using the workflow, for your use case. For example:
‘Time since open’ property = ‘time until’ property calculating time between Start Date and Today’s Date (using net new functionality that was released)
‘Time between Start + Close’ property = ‘time between’ property calculating time between Start Date and Close Date
Hi @kaious , you're correct that these properties can't be used in other calculated properties, and we don't currently plan on removing this limitation. If you'd be willing to share some examples of how you'd like to use a time since/time until property in a calculated property, that would be helpful!
👋Hi all, I'm Rachel from the HubSpot Product team. As part of the 'create time since/time until properties' beta, you can now build calculated properties to represent the time between 'today' and another date/datetime represented by a property. These properties can be used in filters (lists, CRM index page views), automations (as a filter), and to build reports.
Here is a demo and updated KB article going into more detail about the feature. You can opt into the beta here.
Mind blown that this doesn't exist. The absence of this function is all over the "ideas" section, albeit in different posts. I've now spent three weeks working with the support team to attempting to create a workflow that will do this (there is a workflow design posted in the community but unfortunately, it wouldn't work). I am less than delighted that something so basic is not available. Wonder how much time HS has spent in support solving this for many customers over the years - might have been easier to just have the programmers put the function in. I discussed this with my programming team to see if I was missing some complexity that would preclude this. We're baffled as well. I'd be curious to hear why it's not there? It's always tempting to program new things but the basics shouldn't be ignored.
I would absolutely love a "Today's Date" property. This is something I have discussed with many HubSpot users and employees and everyone agrees that it would be incredibly beneficial to all teams within the business.
I find it crazy this isn't available yet! I think the potential uses of this are endless but for myself, our sales team, and marketing teams it would massively help with reporting. Creating custom properties that allow us to monitor the time a contact/company or deal has been at a certain stage, how long since their last website visit, and much more.
It will allow us to create nurture workflows and campaigns for stagnating deals which will ultimately help us generate more revenue.
I think the amount of times people have sought an answer in the community section demonstrates the desire for this property amongst HubSpot users.
Yep. I don't need a today's date field. I just need for the calculation of date to include today's date as an option when picking the fields! I also need it to calculate SLA.
There are at least three different threads requesting this basic feature and hundreds of upvotes, but I can't see any response on any of them from HubSpot. Why?
Hubspot. You have to get it together. Your functionality is lacking in so many areas compared to Salesforce. I am crippled without functions like this. Please actually listen to your CRM driven clients and make updates that get a high volume of votes.
