Currently, you have no date property that tells you today's date. This is genuinely a critical function if you are going to compete with other CRMs. How can a sales team set and keep SLAs if they can only look at the time spent in stage retroactively? Please fix it or bring in a "Today's Date" field so people can work around it using a calculated property and some basic automation i.e.
Enters deal stage > set date picker to "date of entry"
Calc field = time between "Date of entry" & "Today's Date"
Report = all deals with "Calc field" >7
Automation = id "calc field">7 notify salesperson and manager.
This is a huge hole in the system and is going to cost your partner's deals. A simple addition like this would unlock a lot of potential within the system.
This should be an out of the box feature for calculated properties. E.g. how do I caluclate the time between today's date and for example a Contract Start Sate property on Deal? Resorting to a workflow is such a bad system design for something so basic.
Hubspot really - REALLY - needs to revolutionize the calculated properties and enrich them with functionality so we users have the toolkit we need. just something that mirrors e.g. the Excel formulas for dates and logic like IFS / CASE and YEARFRAC; EDATE; MOD. And I have bone to pick with BOOLEAN properties that have 3 options of blank; true; false and Hubspot doesn't provide me the option of setting a default value for them.
Salesforce in comparision is much more mature in this regard and provides a waybetter user experience when creating formulas.
New user to Hubspot but I ran into this problem on the 2nd day configuring the KPIs our team needed.
Please either add a field or simply make it available as a data element in the Calculated Field type for custom properties. Either one of them would solve my problems.
The workaround with workflows is useful but as my devs tell me "Today's date is a super important variable" and it will eliminate a lot of custom code needed for important checks.
Please add this as a filter in as many places as possible! Especially to enable calculated values, we only want certain values to be calculated once a date value has passed.
How is this still not available? This is a fairly basic field and the workarounds haven't been reliable. I don't think we should have to pay to upgrade to Ops hub just to schedule a workflow to update a field that should already exist. Please HELP US HUBSPOT 🙂
This is honestly so incredibly frustrating and embarrassing.
I run HubSpot for our tech company - we are young and fast and savvy, and the effing looks I get from my team when I say "HubSpot can't calculate today's date" is SO painful at this point. They know how simple that function is, and how crucial it is to calculations and workflows. This is just as debilitiating as not being able to sort Deals by Sales Rep, an absolute no-brainer, with radio silence for FOUR YEARS.
FOUR.
YEARS.
I am getting so tired of defending HubSpot, and our choice to invest. I am so, so tired of it.
Add this to a freaking mountain of antagonistic behavior from HubSpot. Ignore your users for YEARS! Hey--make it DECADES, WHY NOT!? Make Karsten Koehler your scapegoat and hide behind him for everything!
@Shepp I feel your frustration and I'm with you - this 100% needs to be a native functionality, I've been telling everyone I talk to at HubSpot how silly it is to have every user build a workflow or use an app to have access to a today's date property.
With that said, if you haven't already, there are two solutions:
2 - also doesn't require ops hub and uses Tick Tock Today (free version of the app) plus the new sync property functionality, steps here
Consolidating these solutions here since there are a lot of different threads with different approaches over the years, both of these take into account current subscriptions and features.
