For sales teams, we can assign a call-type Task to a user so they call a prospect, which is great, but there should be one clear next step to document notes from the call. Currently, there are two disconnected options:
We can populate comments on the task and mark it complete
But this is not recorded as a Call, nor does it have the same fields.
We can open a Call log (this is several clicks away), document notes, and then mark the task complete
But this is not connected to the call-type Task.
I propose one of these improvements (these are mutually exclusive; I recommend choosing only one so as to designate a singular clear path, unlike the bifurcation and disconnection described above):
Make completing a Call log a requirement before a user can mark a call-type task "complete".
After marking a call-type Task "complete", the user could immediately be redirected to a Call log to complete. Info from the call-type Task should prepopulate (e.g., associations, date/time, prior notes).
Call logs could be used like tasks for future calls (would need a place to assign the user, and a "add call" on the Calls page). Assigned calls should also appear as tasks for users.
Workflow automation ability to assign a Call log as a task once a call-type Task is complete.
