Currently the quote number is formatted as #yyyymmdd-xxxxxxxx, wherexxxxxxxx are random non-sequential numbers. I'd like to be able to configure how the quote number is formatted and generated, e.g. QU-xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is a sequential number.
The reason why I'd like to have that is because hubspot's current quote number format is really long, and not friendly to our customers who need to record these in their procurement systems. Secondly, we currently use Xero to generate quotes, and we'd like to migrate to hubspot instead, and to be able to continue from our current quote sequences. For reference, Xero has this functionality that allows us to format the quote number, and to set the start number of the auto-numbering sequence.
Hey folks - Ethan here, product manager for the Product Library and Quotes. Apologies for the missed quarter of updates. I want to let you know that this featureis noton our roadmap for this quarter (Q3, 2022). We want to expand the customizability of Quotes, but we need to make prioritization decisions against other features.
As a sidenote, I'll be updating the top Ideas associated with Products and Line Items ~once per quarter going forward. I will include (1) whether or not a feature is on the roadmap for that quarter or not and (2) what our rollout plan for that feature is (e.g. will there be a beta or not). If you have feedback about additional information I could include in these updates, drop a note here. If I see a theme, I'll adjust my updates to address that.
I won't be doing this for everyidea, but most ideas above 100 kudos will get this treatment. Previously, I had been trying to do it for ideas greater than 25 upvotes, but unfortunately the volume is too high to be practical.

Customization is important for our customers, I had a recent case in which this feature would've improved their experience with HubSpot and they are disappointed to find out is yet to be implemented. I came here to upvote for this idea
I contacted support about how to change the reference quote number. We do not need the long random number, it is hard to read and use it as a reference. Makes No sense. I have been told by support to leave a comment here . But I see the comments starting from years ago and HubSpot still was not willing to make any changes. Disappointing.
Today I'm looking at integrating our quotes into Hubspot, it has been a big wish to make this integration. Realizing the rediculously long quote numbers, I found this thread. It saddens me that again and again SAAS companies choose flavour-of-the-day functionality development over fixing real needs current customers have.
Same issue, having the quote name fully manual and the quote number not being standardized is such a pain point for my company... It was nearly a deal breaker.. I upvoted this idea enven though I see that since 2022, nothing much happenned.
