Currently the quote number is formatted as #yyyymmdd-xxxxxxxx, wherexxxxxxxx are random non-sequential numbers. I'd like to be able to configure how the quote number is formatted and generated, e.g. QU-xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is a sequential number.
The reason why I'd like to have that is because hubspot's current quote number format is really long, and not friendly to our customers who need to record these in their procurement systems. Secondly, we currently use Xero to generate quotes, and we'd like to migrate to hubspot instead, and to be able to continue from our current quote sequences. For reference, Xero has this functionality that allows us to format the quote number, and to set the start number of the auto-numbering sequence.
Just stumbled upon this while trying to figure out how we can define our quote-numbers, since the randomly generated ones from HubSpot are not usable for our usecase.
Seemingly quite simple functionality to implement, really needed it for large companies, epecially under audit. Give us something simple to start with: a combination of a sequential number (starting with a predefined value), year/month/date combo. Should work for most of the cases and certainly for the statrt.
Any update here? Still looking for an answer. These quote numbers are way too long and we use them to reference back. Pain point for me and my customers.
My company has just signed up for the quoting service and moved our team over. To learn that we can't customise the quote number is a big shock and one of the most important features.
I know many people have mentioned this. But are there any updates?
This is now a tough pill to swallow.
We really need this to keep paying hubspot as a client. We may have to go else where now.
I've been trying to migrate our quoting system to hubspot for a while now and there is clearly only one solution: marketplace apps. Has anyone been able to migrate without using third party software in the last 4 years since the feature was requested?
It is probably not in hubspot's interest to add a simple feature such as this, it would decrease the revenue from their markteplace apps. Looking through some messages here, some users are paying $249 to fix this issue, none of the apps I checked were free. Why fix something completely, if you can make bank by only half fixing it? It's just good business.
Agreed, seems strange that such a simple feature isn't available, we have decided to remove the quote reference from the template rather than having a random overly auto applied sequence wshow on our quotatiosn.
This absolutely needs to be customisable, have a client moving on to HubSpot with an established quote numbering system that they wish to maintain. Having to remove the default field for this and add in via a token in either the comments or purchase terms area.
Hello HubSpot Developers. We have a sales team migrating from Salesforce and they really need control over the quote number. Please escalate this as this will continue to come up for our department as we pull more customers into HubSpot for you!
@velliott@ethankopit - if this feature is still in the works, it would make a TON of sense for the quote reference and invoice # to be mirrored. This is practical in most business applications where a quote is presented, approved, paid, and invoice sent.
Our QA system requires a unique sequentially quote number. We are doing a work around for this but it would be much better if we could have it set up where you have a starting number and then each time a quote is generated it increments by one and preclude any option to reuse an existing number.
3 years into our transisition to HubSpot and this still comes up weekly as something we'd like the ability to customise. Please, please, please consider adding this into the dev queue.
Adding our name to the list of companies who need this feature. Customizing quoting numbers should be a high priority if HubSpot is serious about offering a product/quoting tool as part of it's solution.
Is there a timeline for this change? If this is solved, I can eliminate having a separate excel quote log and then job log. That’s time consuming and prone to error! I’m using to Hubspot to streamline not add to a process.
Adding our name to the list. We would like to be able to define the quote number format. The current format is way too long. Would like to be able to do something like QU-###### or be able to define it however we want.
This needs to be a function across all Objects (including custom objects), not just quoting!!!
We need the ability to generate a code with static information (like a QU- prefix for quotes, SV- prefix for custom objects like Service Visits, etc.), dynamic fields like the date (user-selectable from YY to YYYY-DD-MM or DD-MM-YYYY or YYYY) and then a sequential number (where the user can define how many numbers, i.e. 01 or 00001, etc.).
This would then allow folks to have quote names like:
QU-0001, QU-0002
QU-2023-0001, QU-2023-0002
QU-20230928-01, QU-20230928-02
QU-2023-03-001, QU-2023-03-002
It'd also be great to see the option to up-issue the same quote, so you could have QU-0001-01, QU-0001-02, or QU-0001v1, QU-0001v2, etc.
Thinking about this further. It might be a good idea to allow this for all objects (as @OllieS suggests). And also the ability to sequentially link it to a QUOTE as follows:
