Comprehensive Workflow Testing Capability

Though the current workflow tool is more advanced than it once was, and it has better testing on the enrollment side, it is still far from enterprise class.  What I would like to see is an end-to-end Workflow Simulation tool that allows me to not only test the enrollment critieria, but to test the complete functionality of the workflow and have it tell me these are the changes to the records this will make (which may not always be what you expected when you designed it).  I would also like for it to tell me what other workflows it will trigger and what changes to what records will be made as a result of those triggered workflows.  I've seen many instances where, even after extensive workflow testing on an individual workflow, other workflows suddenly start firing buecause now the enrollment criteria met by a contact/company due the changes the current target workflow is initiating.  This is fairly common testing capability among enterprise class ERP systems that use a lot of workflows.

This type of end-to-end workflow testing that test the totality of a workflows impact on all Workflows within your system would save a lot of unnecessary 'blow ups' from happening.

Hi @Lonnie,

Over the next few weeks, we’re hoping to chat with Workflows users for a paid research study on Workflow testing.

Here's how this works:

  • We'll schedule a 45-60 minute call sometime in the next few weeks
  • We'll chat through a Zoom video link that we’ll send you
  • You will interact with a prototype and give detailed feedback, so have your computer ready and click the link to join

Fill out this short survey if you're interested in participating: Complete the survey

We’ll be in touch with further details if you match the criteria for this study. Once you complete the research study, you will be sent a $75 gift card through BHN rewards to thank you for your time and valuable feedback.

Please note that by participating in this research study, you acknowledge and agree to HubSpot's User Research Participation Agreement.

Thank you!

Hi Lonnie -

You could do this in a sandbox environment. Create one, import all records, run the workflow to test it and then delete...

But I like your idea better!
