We track the source at the company level independent of all of the associated contacts so that we know lifetime value of a source type. Contact sources change through time as new employees are brought on or into the account. Each contact's source would be different, but ultimately we want to know that we got that company originally via the website or sales email. We want to track the revenue based on that source. In the previous, limited, report buider with multiple data sources you could select company and deals to accomplish this. However it meant you have to build other reports to gather revenue via marketing campaign or deal lead source.
In the new builder, I can almost combine my revenue reports. Unfortunately it does not allow me to select company source as a filter. I need the company source to be accessible separate from the contact source.
