Combine "Ad Performance Metrics" and "Ad Interactions by Contact" in a single report

We need the ability to combine data from "Ad Performance Metrics" and "Ad Interactions by Contact" in a single custom report.

Currently, these two data sources cannot be used together, limiting our ability to gain comprehensive insights into our advertising efforts.

This feature would allow us to:

  • Analyze ad performance alongside individual contact interactions
  • Create more detailed and insightful reports on our advertising campaigns
  • Save time by eliminating the need to cross-reference multiple reports

Implementing this functionality would greatly enhance our ability to measure and optimize our advertising strategies within HubSpot, and provide a more holistic view of our advertising performance.

As a quick workaround, I'd suggest exporting both the "Ad Performance Metrics" and "Ad Interaction" reports into Excel or Google Sheets. Then you can merge them using VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH formulas based on common fields like campaign or ad ID. Another option is to set up a pivot table after combining the data, which helps easily analyze and visualize everything in one place.

Hi @KRodriguez90 , thanks for the workaround! Our ultimate goal is to have this report in HubSpot Dashboards; automatically updated when there's new data. Do you happen to have a workaround for this? Maybe via Google Sheets which can be integrated with Dashboards...but how could we set up Google Sheets so that the data is pulled automatically from Facebook and HubSpot? I've already tried a lot with Looker Studio but couldn't find a great HubSpot data source...it's really frustrating.

Hi @Adriane, I've looked into something similar before. Your idea to use Google Sheets is actually spot-on—you can pull Facebook data into Sheets directly with their built-in data connector (it's pretty straightforward to set up). HubSpot also has a native Sheets integration. So, once you have both datasets updating automatically in Sheets, you can feed that combined sheet into your HubSpot Dashboard.

I haven't fully tested it yet, but that’s the route I'd take—seems doable without needing extra tools.

Sheets are definitely what can get you there.

@Adriane you can get this automated using Coefficient which is a Google Sheets/Excel connector solution. It's a certified app on the HubSpot marketplace.

The caveat: Unfortunately, although HubSpot does resurface some of your ad spending data from other platforms, it's not fully integrated so it can't be accessed via the API like actual HubSpot data can. You might be able to pull it off with a workflow using HubSpot's native Sheets connector but it'll be tricky.

Coefficient offers Meta Ads, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and HubSpot connectors, so you could pull the data in from these platforms, blend the data in Sheets leveraging the OG source data from HubSpot, build the visualizations in Sheets and use Sheets' native embed functionality to place all of your visualzations in a HubSpot dashboard. I recently made a LinkedIn video post about this piece.

I also do this same thing myself, so would be happy to chat if you think I can help!
