Color code to easily identify and classify contacts
Similarly to the iphone or Outlook setup it would be useful to have a color code that could be used from the contact board to identify contacts quickly, instead of using a custom property.
My idea was to customized company / contact / transaction. It would be at the level of their background colors to have an immediate visual identification. This would be particularly useful for the daily processing of tasks. It would also make the tool more attractive and more visual. The best would be to be able to customize the colors according to the properties chosen. For example, if it's a customer, have a blue background color and if it's a prospect have a green. If it's an MQL or SQL etc ... And the color could be applied only on the top left part of a company or a contact so as not to be too aggressive either.

This would be a great functionality for our business. We would utilise it in an instance where a customer no longer wanted to be contacted by us, we could then highlight them in red for example so that the whole team know not to contact them. The issue we have at the moment is that we have created a custom field to include notes such as 'DNC' but this can be easily missed. Equally, if we were to just remove these contacts from our database, there is every possibility that a team memeber may find them online and add them back in again not knowing the communication history and therefore creating a bad feeling between us and the customer. Having an immediate visual aid to see what the status of the contact is for our company will be a massive help and make our work much more efficient and customer-oriented.
Yes please, this would be a brilliant idea to seperate contact info. Other team members could easily identify red, green or orange customers like a traffic light system.
A colour visual way to distinguish those contacts that require extra care in account mgmt - i.e. they may have experienced an issue recently rendering them a yellow contact or had multiple issues and complained rendering them a red contact. This way whoever in the company picks up speaking with the contact has a way to to find out what exactly has been the issue and provide a more personal service being mindful of any heartache previously experienced by the contact.
This would be like Priority on Ticket properties.
Secondary to this would be to then change priority using workflow automations due to service tickets created.
Adding color coding similar to deal tags currently but for contacts and companies would be extrememly helpful for navigating and using roadmaps in HubSpot!
Just had one of our teams asking for this as well in the contact view - would be great for the sales teams to run through their lists and easily be able to identify whether contacts have already been called etc!!
I have just started using Hubspot and having being able to colour code contacts would be super beneficial. Not having colours makes the contacts blend into one another, so being able to see at a glace what each is (current, potential, DNC) would be amazing
I created a custom Property titled "Outreach" in Deals and associated certain deal tags with the coorespondng option that was selected. You could create a matching custom Property titled "Outreach" at the Contact level and use the "Property Sync" feature to transfer over the information from the Most recently created Deal. Alternatively you can just use the custom property type at the contact level which will allow your team the ability to identify what level of outreach they are with which each contact from the "List" view and they can utilize the dropdown feature instead of having to go into each record to set it. Even though it is not color coded they can filter their Contact views based on "Outreach" selection.
I love this idea and have wanted to request it since I started using HubSpot!!!! There is so much info to have to sift through to find important information. A color tag/flag system for the contacts would make HubSpot much more user friendly when working with high volume contacts/documented communication. I use many other programs that have flag/tag systems and it works wonders for companies that have many department/divisions using the program at the same time. Really helps with information sharing.
Good news, HubSpot is introducing colors in properties! This is a currently private beta. You can check if you have access under Settings > Product updates > All product updates. (If not, you'll have be patient for a bit longer.)
CRM
Apply colors to property options
February 12, 2025
What is it?
You can now apply colors to property options, enabling a more visually-driven, delightful experience in the CRM.
Why does it matter?
Property option colors make skimming an index page table or record page to get actionable insights easy and fast. For example, you can:
Apply red, yellow, or green dots to a custom ‘status’ property, so that users can immediately focus on blockers when viewing an index page table
Color-code a default ‘type’ property such as lead type or deal type, so that you can quickly glance at a record and understand what category it falls into
How does it work?
Settings > Properties > Edit Property > Field Type > Option display mode
For multi-value enumeration properties, users can choose ‘text inside colored tag.’
For single-value enumeration properties, users can choose the ‘text with colored dot’ or ‘text inside colored badge’ display options.
