Hi HubSpot Community,

We’re excited to share that the basic cloning functionality is now live to all! 🎉

To keep the momentum going, please continue the conversation by creating new Idea posts. This will help us capture upvotes on the most popular enhancement requests (such as a workflow action, permissions, and more).

Thank you all for continuing to share your feedback and helping us shape the future of this feature!

June 23, 2025 12:42 PM

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

Enhancements

  • Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

  • The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Let’s keep the conversation going—please leave feedback in the in-app survey or in our form here.

Happy cloning!

Hi everyone,

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes.

  1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
  2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
  3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
  4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
  5. Auto associating source & cloned record.

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

For everything else, let's keep the conversation going. If any of these enhancements apply to your use-case, please tell us more. You can leave feedback in the in-app survey, through the beta update survey, or in our form here.

Hey HubSpot Community,
Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you'd like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!

*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you're still not able to access it.

Hello HubSpot community,

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

I'm new to HubSpot and had the same reaction as others did about a CRM that couldn't copy a contact, asking myself "how could that be?"  And this thread goes back 5 years! But I'm glad I read through the whole thread to see the post about the Clone Attack add-on from the Hapily firm. They have various levels including both free and paid.

Hey @cfleishman ! It's still relevant issue, so I decided to leave my personal recommendation - CloneNer app that duplicate deals, tickets, contacts, or even companies. It preserves all associations, including line items, related elements. So, you can try it out...25 clones are free at first.

Best regards! Hope it's helpful!

Hi @esundance and HubSpot community! I guess, I know great solution to this issue...It's possible to duplicate Deals, and not only Deals, but also Contacts, Companies, Tickets etc. preserving all associations with CloneNer app. You can find it at HubSpot App marketplace and try 25 clones for free.

Best regards, guys!

yes! much needed. cloning a deal is a basic functionality that is lacking in Hubspot. It's supported natively out of the box with Salesforce. Not sure why Hubspot hasn't been able to add this functionality yet.

Still so, so frustrating. Love many things about Hubspot but this is very, very frustrating for our renewals process, especially considering the annual pricetag.

I would appreciate an outreach from a Hubspot CS Rep in the coming days/weeks as this is horribly limiting our ability to scale, and we would rather something out of the box than have to pay more $$ for a custom solution, or run the risk of buggering up our instance up with a less than perfect workflow.

I couldn't say it better ! We have the exact same problem regarding our customers' renewals (around 200 / year) and despite all the other good features, it's an important loss of time. Of course, it should be included as a basis (like the other CRM of the market) we shouldn't have to pay more for (nor as an option nor as a devlopment).

@CHeitz I am 100% with you. With that said, I have about 100-200 renewals every month. Copying existing deals individually would be very laborious and time-consuming from within HBS.

What I would do in your situation is:

1. Create a report that contains the existing deals that need to be copied.

2. Export that report to Excel.

3. Make the necessary modifications to the Excel file to update it for the new year.

*  You can use Search and Replace in the file to change certain pieces of data throughout a file.

*   I use this code in my Deal Name field so that it automatically updates the Deal Number in the Deal Name upon import:  Quote %DEAL_RECORD_NUMBER%

*  For full disclosure, my sys admin guy also set up an automated tool that based on certain criteria, the tool will update the file for certain conditions en-mass so I don't have to manually make all of the changes.

*  If I was copying each deal individually within HBS, I would have to make those changes manually.

4. Import the deal under the Contacts Tab

You should be good to go.

Thank you Evans, I'll keep your advice in mind but to be honest it's still much more complicated and time-consuming than a simple "duplicate" button

As example, I use the deal duplicator app (the manual way) to do the job and it's quite efficient but as it's a paying solution, my team can't enjoy it 😞

This is a must to save time

@CHeitz I too use the free version of the paid deal duplicator. It works OK for what I need it to do. My management would not pay for a paid version. The price of HBS is already high enough to be nickeled and dimed on key functionality. Unfortunately, it sounds like HBS has decided that since there is a Deal Duplicator App out there, they don't need to provide a built-in one. So wrong!  😞

So many things in HubSpot can be cloned. The process is retain 90% of the data, but assigning a new record/object ID. We can see a simple form of this when cloning a marketing email, lead form, or workflow. A copy of the object is made with a new object ID.

The OP did not ask to clone a contact or company that might have a unqiue identifier (email or website domain respectively), they have ask for a deal record to be cloned which it's only uniqueness is an object or record ID similar to a marketing email, form, workflow, etc. Almost 2k customers are asking for this. That alone should fast track this, but there is also a significant business reason to do this to reduce the number of copy and paste workflows as well (if custom recurring deal property is set to yes, enroll deal in workflow based on schedule, create a new deal record, copy data from deal 1 to deal 2).

Seems like an awful lot of resources to waste when the steps could be: mouse hover existing deal, click clone which copies all data that "can be" from the existing deal and require certain properties to be filled out like close date prior to saving.

Very hard to accept that HS does not understand deal cloning or copying to be a requirement. It is a glaring omission in the functionality that results in a  great deal of additional work where they have repeat business or project that get broken into a number of stages.

Hi community! @Courtneyymn There is a solution - CloneNer app that you can find at HubSpot marketplacr and install easily. This app allows you to effortlessly clone various HubSpot objects, regardless of the complexity, including Tickets, Contacts, Companies and Deals. You can try it for free.

Hi! Guys, you can try out  - CloneNer app which easily clones Deals, Contacts, Companies and Tickets. Also, it preserves all associations, including line items, related elements. It has a free plan, so you can test it.

I will often send out a meeting request and it then gets forwarded to other people at my prospect's company.  As they accept the meeting I want to add them into HubSpot, but it is not a good use of my time to type the same information in the same fields multiple times.  PLEASE give us the ability to "clone" a contact.

I first commented on Oct 11th, 2023.    I still need this functionality.   I just manually created a long list of opportunities that are renewals for next year.

Its inexplicable. Such an obvious requirement.

Hubspot told me to write this in the idea portal very well knowing they aint gonna do anything with it.
