Cloning a Deal

Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

Enhancements

• Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

• The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes. 

1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
5. Auto associating source & cloned record. 
   
   

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

Everyone who added their Hub ID to the interest form should now have access to the private beta for "Basic Record Cloning." We are looking at opening the beta to everyone shortly! In the meantime, please share any feedback you have once you have given it a go!

Hi everyone - Thank you @lgancarz for reporting the issue with required Line Items. The fix should now be available to all who are enrolled in the beta. Please give it a go and let us know if you have any additional feedback! 

All who have added an entry in the beta interest form should have the "Basic Record Cloning" product update. Don't forget to enroll in the beta before checking it out!

Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

If you are in the Deal, there is an Actions button with drop down arrow, yet no Clone feature so that you can then just change something like the date  

Why are the some of the most basic common sense features not standard in Hubspot??

This would indeed be a useful feature. Especially after a data migration, allowing for a quick implementation of Hubspot without spending too much time on checking whether you're deleting the right deal.

This is an awesome idea and needs to be in place. When I used to work in my prior companies, we were able to duplicate deals.

This is a great idea! 

Cloning products or even creating a workflow where products could be automatically added would be great too!  This would provide flexibility for customers.

I would love this feature to clone deals as well! We sometimes have deals that break out into multiple phases and it would save a lot of time, not having to reenter all the notes and contacts. With Hubspot being a top rated CRM, I do not know how this feature is not available and has not been created since a lot of people in the community could use it.
