Cloning a Deal

Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please! Smiley Happy

HubSpot Updates

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

Enhancements

  • Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

  • The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Let’s keep the conversation going—please leave feedback in the in-app survey or in our form here.

Happy cloning!

Hi everyone,

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes.

  1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
  2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
  3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
  4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
  5. Auto associating source & cloned record.

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

For everything else, let's keep the conversation going. If any of these enhancements apply to your use-case, please tell us more. You can leave feedback in the in-app survey, through the beta update survey, or in our form here.

Hi everyone - Thank you @lgancarz for reporting the issue with required Line Items. The fix should now be available to all who are enrolled in the beta. Please give it a go and let us know if you have any additional feedback!

All who have added an entry in the beta interest form should have the "Basic Record Cloning" product update. Don't forget to enroll in the beta before checking it out!

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Hi everyone -- As of today, we are in a limited beta with a selection of users who had signed up on the interest form. If you are keen to try the beta right away, I encourage you to add your name and Hub Id to the form. We'll be gradually expanding the beta and would be happy to have you included in the next round!

Hey HubSpot Community,
Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you'd like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!

*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you're still not able to access it.

Hello HubSpot Community,

Thank you all for your incredible patience. We reckon an update is warranted.

Unfortunately, this idea remains unplanned. The team is currently planning some really valuable, high-impact features (e.g. team goals, deal overlays, color coding the deals board) that fall higher on the priority list. We can't take this on. But we understand the need and see the value in a cloning feature.

Fortunately, there's a workaround. You can use workflows to create a new deal and copy data from the existing deal.

Thank you for making HubSpot CRM a better tool.

Hello HubSpot community,

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

they once did the survey what exactly you want to have cloned?
Like the associations and also the time stamps. This actually is not
obvious, some people want more like a template, while others want to split
an existing deal into two, therefore keeping create date the same.
Not sure if that is a blocker.

The minimum is to be able to create a deal without any associations so that you can create a template for, say, "Service Contract Renewal" or "Software Licence Sale" based on an existing deal which has been completed.

In my previous system a pop-up would allow check boxes to be selected to decide what associations should be copied - obvious ones being the Primary Company and the Primary Customer. But, other associations like documents (say a standard set of rates), parent company association, Master Deal, could also be included.

It really is not a big ask and for a company that promotes as being creative and the next big thing in marketing and sales.

I have to second the urgency of this idea. As a super admin, i got complains on this from our sales team immediately after we rolled out CRM. It supposes to be a simple idea and not difficult to develop.

I'm glad to see this is prioritized for 2025.  That said, the original request was 8 years ago and this is such a BASIC feature!  We should be able to clone any object on the CRM menu (Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets), but most especially deals for renewals and deal restructuring so we can pick up related contacts, related company, and have all of the fields already populated.  It is tedious to have to re-enter all of that for renewal maintenance.  Thank you.

Absolutely correct.

Hello,

Great news indeed, it will be really helpful and we can't wait to use it 😄

Could you please precise when is it planed on your roadmap ?

When would this feature be ready for users ? (even approximately and/or in beta)

Thanks for you answer !

This is a great idea but we would really need to assign some persmissions to who could do this as we have company creation locke down to specific people
