Hi HubSpot Community,

We’re excited to share that the basic cloning functionality is now live to all! 🎉

To keep the momentum going, please continue the conversation by creating new Idea posts. This will help us capture upvotes on the most popular enhancement requests (such as a workflow action, permissions, and more).

Thank you all for continuing to share your feedback and helping us shape the future of this feature!

June 23, 2025 12:42 PM

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

Enhancements

  • Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

  • The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Let’s keep the conversation going—please leave feedback in the in-app survey or in our form here.

Happy cloning!

Hi everyone,

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes.

  1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
  2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
  3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
  4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
  5. Auto associating source & cloned record.

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

For everything else, let's keep the conversation going. If any of these enhancements apply to your use-case, please tell us more. You can leave feedback in the in-app survey, through the beta update survey, or in our form here.

If you are keen to try the beta right away, I encourage you to add your name and Hub Id to the form. We'll be gradually expanding the beta and would be happy to have you included in the next round!

Hey HubSpot Community,
Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you'd like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!

*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you're still not able to access it.

Hello HubSpot community,

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

I love HubSpot CRM for Sales, but all other CRM allows you to clone a Contact record.  We are constantly adding contacts from the same Org and need to clone.  Waiting years is too long.

Clearly, HubSpot doesn't read this forum, or worse, they read it and choose not to respond. I've spoken to them on the phone when they have called me to up-sell me on advance features, but it's been 5 or 6 years and still no contact cloning. The only thing I can suggest if you are adding more than 1 person at a time is to export the contact you want to clone into an Excel spreadsheet, copy the record for each new person, make the necessary edits, delete the original record and the record-id column and then import the new records.
It's a pain to do it that way, but for me, it's faster than typing a bunch of new records individually.

Hi, the link for the survey gives an error message that 'permission is needed' to access.

Yes! That's great news! But I also am unable to use the survey link at this time.

P.S. I really hope that this functionality is going to include the ablity to clone other objects as well, such as Tickets.

THANK YOU!!! The community has practically been begging!

Need permission for the survey. BTW

@kman

Can you please fix the link so that we can access the survey? Otherwise, the people who really need to fill it out won't be able to access it.

Thanks!

I also can't access the survey. This couldn't be more timely. I literally
just reached out to another CRM system vendor specifically due the lack of
clone ability in Hubspot. Please prioritize this!!!!

Definitely needed.

Yes, we need to be able to duplicate records.  Every CRM that I've worked in has offered this ability.  When I contacted HubSpot, I was told that records can't be duplicated because the main identifier is the email address so it can't duplicate an email address.  I said, then write in the programming to not duplicate the email field when cloning/duplicating a record!  That's how all the CRM's have done it - you select 'Duplicate Record' and then it duplicates all fields, except email address, name and title.  This most basic feature needs to be added because productivty has been lowered since we switched to HubSpot because now we have to manualy enter all of the contact information for multiple contacts that have identical information (aside of name, email and title).

how is HubSpot tracking this?

still not implemented, this is so basic

some rules for adjusting data would be nice when recreating deals

for the time being you can create a simple workflow to create a copy of a deal.

Just enroll the deal you want to create a copy and create a new deal(chose the stage, rename, etc) and then run the flow.

This will create a copy of the deal with relevant history copied to the deal

steinarslatten

+ to being able to clone a deal. Our usecase is often that we have a large deal that we want to split into several smaller deals. It is very tedious to manually re-enter the data for several other deals.

RWatkins1
Membro

This is an essential feature. Any CRM system deals with organisations/companies and then contacts within those organisations. It is naive to have a system which does not recognise this and does not meet a simple requirement of allowing multiple contacts within a company, without the need for adding in the same data multiple times for each contact that is encountered in an organisation. What is the point of having a database if it will not fulfil the simple function of making the data easy to maintain correctly? The current system design means people are more likely to create inaccurate data as they have to maintain the same data manually several times over.

Please fix this asap.
