Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please! Smiley Happy

Update from @JoeMayallDue to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."

Hi HubSpot Community,

We’re excited to share that the basic cloning functionality is now live to all! 🎉

To keep the momentum going, please continue the conversation by creating new Idea posts. This will help us capture upvotes on the most popular enhancement requests (such as a workflow action, permissions, and more).

Thank you all for continuing to share your feedback and helping us shape the future of this feature!

June 23, 2025 12:42 PM

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

Enhancements

  • Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

  • The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Let’s keep the conversation going—please leave feedback in the in-app survey or in our form here.

Happy cloning!

Hi everyone,

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes.

  1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
  2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
  3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
  4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
  5. Auto associating source & cloned record.

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

For everything else, let's keep the conversation going. If any of these enhancements apply to your use-case, please tell us more. You can leave feedback in the in-app survey, through the beta update survey, or in our form here.

Hi HubSpot community,

Everyone who added their Hub ID to the interest form should now have access to the private beta for "Basic Record Cloning." We are looking at opening the beta to everyone shortly! In the meantime, please share any feedback you have once you have given it a go!

Happy cloning!

Hi everyone - Thank you @lgancarz for reporting the issue with required Line Items. The fix should now be available to all who are enrolled in the beta. Please give it a go and let us know if you have any additional feedback!

All who have added an entry in the beta interest form should have the "Basic Record Cloning" product update. Don't forget to enroll in the beta before checking it out!

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Hi everyone -- As of today, we are in a limited beta with a selection of users who had signed up on the interest form. If you are keen to try the beta right away, I encourage you to add your name and Hub Id to the form. We'll be gradually expanding the beta and would be happy to have you included in the next round!

Hey HubSpot Community,
Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you'd like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!

*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you're still not able to access it.

Hello HubSpot community,

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

Basic feauture available on other CRMs. This should have been implemented the year this request was created (2017). It will save a lot of time for operations and sales team members.

Awesome. Worked like a charm. The automation element to it blew our minds and saved tons of time.

I totally agree this feature would be extremely helpful. Could this please be prioritized. And can we also include cloning a ticket not just a deal.

@TWust just incase you didn't know Clone Attack allows you to duplicate tickets and deals. It can also be used in workflows to automatically duplicate tickets and deals for you!

You can check it out here: https://app.hubspot.com/portal-recommend/l?slug=ecosystem/marketplace/apps/_detail/appchemist-clone-...

Hey @JasonTisdall I'm not that technical, so I used an app called "Deal Duplicator" for HubSpot… it was really easy and it was free and it carried all elements of the deals (you only have to pay if automation is needed).

There's an app for that now: Deal Duplicator. It is free unless you need automation.

Check out Deal Duplicator. It is not native but it is free, it works and you can set automations.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll give it a try.

We are five years into this suggestion. It is inconceivable that any CRM package supporting a SAAS model would not have this capability. Please provide an update ASAP on when this baseline functionality for SAAS businesses will be included in the baseline CRM system.

I agree ... Hubspot's lack of priority on this issue is truly inconceivable!!

this is ridiculous that this feature is not available

Please add for project-based companies it would be very helpful for their business models!

$19 or $29 a month to duplicate deals, a feature that should be free, is ridiculous. But thanks for the suggestion.

It's unbelievable that this isn't a core feature. Salesforce, Pipedrive, etc all have this. Why wouldn't HubSpot CRM??

I think this was the reason I stopped using HubSpot a few years ago - no way to just clone or duplicate... anything. Contacts, tasks... What an inefficient process and giant PIA.  With this many upvotes for what seems to be a standard feature within SAAS... a feature that has been requested repeatedly for years... what the heck HubSpot?

This is a really simple function that should have been introduced years ago. The amount of continued interest over the last 5 years and countless community posts should be a sign to prioritise this update!
