Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.

 

Enhancements

  • Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.

  • The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.

Hi everyone,

Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes. 

  1. The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
  2. The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
  3. The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
  4. The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
  5. Auto associating source & cloned record. 

I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.

Hi HubSpot community,

Everyone who added their Hub ID to the interest form should now have access to the private beta for "Basic Record Cloning." We are looking at opening the beta to everyone shortly! In the meantime, please share any feedback you have once you have given it a go!

Hi everyone - Thank you @lgancarz for reporting the issue with required Line Items. The fix should now be available to all who are enrolled in the beta. Please give it a go and let us know if you have any additional feedback! 

All who have added an entry in the beta interest form should have the "Basic Record Cloning" product update. Don't forget to enroll in the beta before checking it out!

Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.

I agree.  We should always track and record every connection we make.  What may seem to be a contact with no impact now mayh be promoted to key player later.  Any all history we have with that contact both good and bad will be very useful as we go on.

As Hubspot gets more and more functionality and complexity - clone becomes a HUGE time-saver especially as an initial large long deal when it comes to contracts often starts breaking down into small 3 month chunks - certainly with the big clients we work with in financial services

It baffles me that such a basic feature with a big support base still isn't being implemented! Whether you have several similar deals associated with one company, or a recurring deal, or a deal setup that is identical accross companies, all of these require the manual reentry of all data, or some unnecessary workflow workaround. Time-consuming and frustrating to say the least.

@Dylan I also recommend development on the feature.

Motivation:
a) enabling users to create multi-pipeline approach (marketing, sales, success) using the same deal

b) re-using an "old" deal e.g. for an upselling pipeline by cloning this deal

c) save lot of time for users preventing "copy-paste-monkleywork"

 

in fact it is just copy all properties from deal "old" to deal "new". With a workflow this is half way possible, but quite tricky.

This lack of functionality is contributing to the business case to move to Salesforce and another example of Hubspot being good for Marketers but not for Sales teams. The lack of an ability to clone deals with products makes it time consuming and prone to error for moving deals from the Sales team to the Account Management team. 

 

I understand it may be a complex product issue because of the way Hubspot was built but this was raised in 2017 and it certainly isn't a 4 year complicated issue.

GazEvans I think has put this really well - this is such a fundamental flaw for a business that is scaling that it would prompt seeking an alternative with the CLONE feature.

Seeing the cloning deals has been such a missing feature, we have an app for it!

We've built an app that duplicates a deal and brings any associations and all of the fields in just a couple of clicks.
Copying tickets and contacts coming shortly as well in v2.

This feature is requested by our reps ; although they don't have thought a lot about the exact data to be copied.

 

I have questioned them + answered your poll using my experience of Salesforce.

Joined Hubspot not long ago thinking "Oh I'll get off the spreadsheets..." only to realize it takes me almost twice as much.... Cloning is a feature that you CANNOT deal without ! Especially in a company where some clients may have multiple locations but not all at the same stage ! 

This is critical for managing my team efficiently.... none of the employee will buy into the switch to Hubspot unless it is easier or at least as hard as before.... !

We use the Duplicate deal widget from revLABS. And we are quite satisfied the way it works. it is the best alternative for not having the option to clone deals ;-).
