Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please!
Update from @JoeMayall: Due to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."
Hey HubSpot Community, Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options. -Maggie
Hi HubSpot Community great news! Our product team is prioritizing this feature and actively working on a solution. To help us better understand what exactly you'd like to clone (e.g. properties, associations, activities), could you please take this short survey? Thank you!
*Update: Survey link has been fixed, please let me know if you're still not able to access it.
Thank you all for your incredible patience. We reckon an update is warranted.
Unfortunately, this idea remains unplanned. The team is currently planning some really valuable, high-impact features (e.g. team goals, deal overlays, color coding the deals board) that fall higher on the priority list. We can't take this on. But we understand the need and see the value in a cloning feature.
Thank you for your continued feedack here. I wanted to provide an update on the status of this idea. Cloning a deal is absolutely on a list of things we’d like to do. However, the list is long and time and resources are limited, so building this functionality is ultimately a question of priorities, and this is a lower priority compared to some of the other things we’re working on right now. We're continuing to keep an eye on the use cases provided in this idea and are always re-evaluating our top priorities, I'll be sure to update this thread when this is a more near-term priority.
Thank you for your continued input on this idea. As I mentioned in a previous post, saving reps time is squarely in the realm of things we are thinking about on the HubSpot Product Team.
Thank you all for your continued input on this idea. I'm a product manager on our CRM team and wanted to provide you all with a status update here as the status of this issue is a bit complicated.
For starters, @JoeMayall recently made an update to the core idea. There was a technical error on our end that increased the number of votes on this issue by about 300.
When it comes to cloning deals, we hear you! We've been steadily looking into all of the context provided here and its clear there is product pain in a few areas.
Recurring revenue - the ability for HubSpot to support a recurring revenue model can be painful due to the fact that deals need to be re-created month over month, or quarter over quarter.
Saving reps time - sometimes deals are created that are very similar to a previous deal and the rep creating the deal wants to use the same data. Re-typing this data is inefficient.
Regarding recurring revenue: We're currently working on several aspects of the product that will help recurring revenue models. This includes invoices, reports, and even forecasting.
Regarding saving reps time: Our entire product is shaped to help you grow better. When reps are doing duplicative tasks, this slows you down and hurts growth. However, different businesses have different needs around "cloning". Some want just the deal name, others want the same deal amount, others want to copy the entire contents of the deal (including activities and emails), some want the deal to be included in the same reports as other deals. Since there are such vast requirements amongst our user base - this would inherently create the need for "settings" to allow admins to choose exactly how a deal cloning would work.
Both of these things are goals that we have our eye on. The problems that are expressed here are likely to be solved in many ways. There is not a "clone deal" silver bullet. We plan on working continually towards solving all of this pain, every day. However, at this time we do not have immediate plans to build or launch a "clone deal" button and have our energy focused on solving other problems that help our customers grow better.
I have been using the widget add-in that was mentioned and the result is simple and exactly what Hubspot should have done a very long time ago - I can clone the deal and modify the contact and company - which is what most of the folks have been asking for.
Here is the link again. I have no affiliation with the company other than I am now a thankful fan! https://store.revenueriver.co/collections/deal-dupe-widget Just be sure to create an account with the same email you use for your Hubspot login.
To Elsystems: Glad the widget works for you. Very simple functionality that Hubspot seems to have difficulty with. Makes no sense. The first response you get from Hubspot when you ask for basic functionality is "post to the ideas board". Well here we are 3+ years later and god only knows how many have posted on this topic.... but no results from Hubspot. Maybe it's time to look at real CRM's!!
Hi Jeremy, I downloaded the free version (which I believe is good for one person - if you want more than one person to access, you then need the paid). All I did was go to the marketplace (little store front icone upper right of the black menu bar) and search for it. Once I found it I just connected and followed the process. Hope that helps ...
If you add the widget from the link on the company website instead of the Hubspot marketplace you should be able to install it. Looks like the company just changed the page for the widget to mention that it is a beta product. Works great for me. https://www.revenueriver.co/revlabs/duplicate-deal
I think someone else had mentioned that it was only available in the US. The version I got was the free one... not sure if that is available outside the US either. Try contacting them to inquire: https://www.revenueriver.co/
The revLABS Revenue River widget app DOES work to clone and does give the option of whether to include the products which therefore carries over the revenue fields so THANK YOU. This is the solution I for one needed at this stage.
Crazy that something so simple, basic and obviously very much needed by subscribers was so complicated or not relevant enough for hubspot to add.
Glad to hear it!! This widget is just a temporary fix and who knows how long this will be available as it's a beta product. Hubspot should still be on the hook to give us this very basic CRM functionality. We should not have to use an outside widget to do the basics.
Brand new to HS - we moved from Pipedrive, have been putting it off for a couple of years, but have bitten the bullet!
Can't believe that there isn't a way to clone a deal - how does anyone deal with renewals without being able to clone an existing deal?? We've closed/won around 7 deals since using HS - in Pipedrive, I'd have them duplicated the deals into our renewal pipeline, set sales tasks for renewal close and that would be it. So far, I haven't found the time to even create the 7 new renewal deals that I need to do - to do this, I would need to have HS open twice on my browser and keep going from one to the other so as to be able to copy the details across.
Seems crazy to me.. is there any business using HS that doesn't have MRR/ARR??
@Tamarbeck1 you can use the workflow engine to automatically clone the deal based upon the criteria and triggers that you set. However, Products are not copied over. Other than that it generally works fine.
@Tamarbeck1 We went through the exact same move 14 months ago... What was just 1 click in Pipedrive requires quite some workaround in Hubspot.
The most efficient way I found to avoid simple copy and paste or click click click marathon, is to download a deal from Hubspot, then change what you want to change (for example the period) and then reimport the new deals via the Import function.
Quick heads up: be careful with the import, Hubspot doesn't have the same function as Pipedrive, you can't easily revert an import, you'd have to delete all deals.
Hi, Many of us are using an external tool that you can integrate with Hubspot that will clone deals. Check it out... a good fix until Hubspot gets their stuff together and gives us basic cloning functionality~~
Would it not make sense that clone woudl just create a new deal with ALL details from the cloned deal and present said deal just prior to saving and thus the user could alter/delete as required?
