Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please!
Update from @JoeMayall: Due to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."
Yes please, we also need this as a feature. It feels like it is missing from the Assign, Edit, Delete, Create Tasks options when an Admin selects a deal. We have been waiting a long time for this option.
This feels like table stakes for a CRM. It's difficult to encourage staff to use HubSpot when feature that they don't even consider to be 'features' are missing.
WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FEATURE SINCE 2016! IT KINDA FEELS ICKY TO RENEW HUBSPOT SUBSCRIPTION FOR A FACT THAT THEY MISSED A BASIC BUT CRUCIAL FEATURE ON THEIR SYSTEM! SO FRUSTRATING! THOUGH THEY HAVE A WORKFLOW TO DUPLICATE DEALS, I AM STILL WONDERING WHAT STOPS THEM FROM BUILDING A SIMPLE CLONE FEATURE.
Have you heard of Clone Attack? It's a HubSpot app that let's you clone records (contact records included):
It carries over all properties to the duplicate record along with any associations you select. There's actually a blog post covering your use case here.
I'd love to talk about this further if anyone has questions.
No, I haven't heard of it, thanks! For a small operator like me, the free plan (10 dupes/month) might be useful.
Although, I'm not sure if this also copies over things like addresses?
However, this doesn't address the question of why such a basic CRM feature like this doesn't already exist in HubSpot! It shouldn't take an outside package to do this!
Hey everyone. Hope to offer a bit of help here. Better understanding HubSpot's product team philosophy may help you avoid some frustration. As HubSpot has scaled upmarket in recent year's, they're looking to their growing App Partner Community to solve for challenges like cloning objects (ie: Deals). HubSpot may or may not ever solve for this because a partner like Hapily with their Clone Attack have already done so to their satisfaction.
Think of it like your cellphone. Your iPhone or Android device is pretty dope out the box but needs addtional apps to add value for your specific use case. Hope that helps.
Then, a fair expectation for HS to respond (especially one with this many uplikes and 3-4 different posts) with the partner who can assist. Which they haven't. This feature, however, along with manually moving invoices to paid, is, IMO something you would expect to have in the tool - not be directed to a partner to pay for a standard feature.
I agree. HBS needs to do a better job at standard features and fixing 'bugs' and not call them features. I understand the partner concept... but there are just basic things that should be included. Copying deals, contacts, etc are standard features.
Thanks SkeeStylus... I appreciate the effort in perspective shifting and reminding everyone of the App Market. With respect, to the anology you used, I would liken it to a scenario where an office suite/platform (competing against the likes Outlook or Google Cal) does not have a "recoccurring/repeating event" feature... and then someone on the discussion forums saying not to be annoyed because you can install a third party app to do that. IMO, cloning a Deal/Opportunity is truly that basic of a feature and out-of-the-box with most CRM platforms.
I've been closely following the discussions around the much-requested feature of duplicating a Deal in HubSpot. I completely understand the frustration and the need for such a feature. However, I wanted to shed some light on the intricacies involved in implementing this seemingly simple function.
When we set out to develop the Deal Duplicator app, we initially thought it would be straightforward. But as we delved deeper, based on real customer feedback, we encountered numerous considerations:
Line Items: Should they also be duplicated when a Deal is duplicated? Associations: How should associations with Contacts, Companies, and Tickets be handled? Engagements: How should Emails, Notes, Tasks, Meetings, and Calls be managed in the duplicated Deal? Quotes: Should associated Quotes also be duplicated? Property Values: What happens if a particular property value on the original Deal no longer exists? Number of Copies: How many duplicates of a Deal should be made? Naming Sequencing: If multiple duplicates are created, how should the naming convention be managed? Automation vs. Manual: Should Deals only be manually duplicated, or are there scenarios where automation makes sense? User Permissions: Who should have the authority to duplicate deals? Selective Properties: What if not all properties should be duplicated, like Close Date or Owner?
I share this short list not to make excuses but to provide a perspective on the complexities involved.
While I realize that as the creator of the Deal Duplicator app, my perspective might seem biased, I assure you that our primary goal has always been to address these challenges and provide a solution that makes your HubSpot experience even better.
Line Items: Should they also be duplicated when a Deal is duplicated?
yes Associations: How should associations with Contacts, Companies, and Tickets be handled?
contacts/comppanies yes tickets optional Engagements: How should Emails, Notes, Tasks, Meetings, and Calls be managed in the duplicated Deal?
start fresh or Quotes: Should associated Quotes also be duplicated?
no, ca be generated quickly from lineitems maybe a price change occured so Property Values: What happens if a particular property value on the original Deal no longer exists?
Number of Copies: How many duplicates of a Deal should be made?
one whould be a good start Naming Sequencing: If multiple duplicates are created, how should the naming convention be managed?
1/x after the deal for the first 2/x snd x/x last Automation vs. Manual: Should Deals only be manually duplicated, or are there scenarios where automation makes sense?
both
automatic in workflow e.g. subscriptions and renewals once a month based on an expiry date set in original deal User Permissions: Who should have the authority to duplicate deals?
superadmin/team/previous owner
So we will await the option for cloning deals soon.
Hubspot was able to create features far more complex than deal cloning such as report dashboard.
Deal Cloning is a fundamental feature that also need improvements over the time. I'm wondering why is this still in planning stage when this feature should have been included in the basics.
I've also created deal duplicator automation before and it was my first automation app, I have no experience in coding and just use Zapier. Im sure Hubspot can do better. It is one of the most requested feature that should have been in included even in free version. What a huge letdown for Hubspot! This thread runs since 2017 and hay... still no solution other than getting third party app or run it thru workflow. Why can't Hubspot make it simpler for everyone and make a "clone" button.
