Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please!
Update from @JoeMayall: Due to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."
hey community, while HubSpot offers basic cloning (wich is great!) you may still consider using CloneNer app, for some out-of the box cases, and more advanced cloning experience. Give it try - it worth it. Our users, and hubspottters love it. It's certified by HubSpot as well as fully integrated into the system. /John
Everyone who added their Hub ID to the interest form should now have access to the private beta for "Basic Record Cloning." We are looking at opening the beta to everyone shortly! In the meantime, please share any feedback you have once you have given it a go!
I have tried the Cloning function. If I understand it correctly, it only clones the fields which are included in the Create New form. However, the majority of the information we would like to clone are actually not in the Create New form. In fact the fields in Create New form are normally the ones need to be changed the value after cloning.
Is there any way to clone more custom fields, eg, a selection box to include additional fields to be cloned?
Integrations with other software require us to store custom identifiers on our records that point to the associated records in other systems. We would need the ability to control exclusions for properties to clone in order to utilize the functionality. Additionally, when we tested on Deals this we noticed the line items were not consistently in the order they were added on the original Deal, which is a must for our quotes to look good. Thank you for adding this feature, I hope it continues to gain traction and attention!
I'm happy to announce that basic record cloning private beta is now availale to all accounts. We would greatly appreciate your feedback on your experience with the beta. Your insights are invaluable in helping us improve and ensure the product meets your needs. You can leave in the in-app survey or connect with me directly here on Community.

Still can't access the beta of record cloning. It still shows as private beta and the cloning option does not show on the drop down menu even though it is now public. I do have permissions to create records
@NazM will the clone tool evolve past the current release? I find it won't be very helpful for my users if the only copied fields are the record name and associations. Am I missing something?
@NazM Thanks for the work on this. I think this beta a good step but still lacks the functionality we've all been asking for.
Cloning an object and only copying over the fields in the "create form" is not enough. There are many properties within the objects that need to be passed over and they shouldn't all need to be placed in the initial form.
Are there plans to give more control over what gets duplicated? I understand not all users may want to carry over all properties, but perhaps a checkbox can be what decides if all properties should be passed over or just the ones in the form.
Thanks for the progress. Look forward to this evolving.
Thank your for the contiuned discusssion on this thread. We are tracking each and every single feedback to help shape the future iterations of record cloning. So far, we have heard about a few key recurring themes.
The need to "split deals" by allowing pipeline stage to be change at clone time (and the correct properties cloned depending on the stage)
The need for a workflow action to automate the clone action
The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
Auto associating source & cloned record.
I'm happy to share that we have made the decision to prioritize #1 today so you can expect an upgrade within this release.
For everything else, let's keep the conversation going. If any of these enhancements apply to your use-case, please tell us more. You can leave feedback in the in-app survey, through the beta update survey, or in our form here.
Hello, This new cloning feature is a great addition! While testing the beta, I noticed that when cloning a deal, everything seems to work correctly except for the deal amount, which does not get copied over. As a result, the reporting shows inaccurate data. Other than that, everything looks good. Thank you!
Our reps like the new cloning feature. We mainly use this for deals.
+1 on recurring themes 3 and 4.
The need to copy all propreties (and exclude some properties as an admin configuration)
The need to copy all associations & activities beyond what's been configured in the record creation
I cannot utilize a workflow workaround for above...
Record source contains "Record Clone" and Record Source Detail 1 contains the Cloned Deal Name. Using the property match beta I can include the cloned deal as a data source. However, the properties I would update AFTER deal create are required AT deal create due to pipeline rules.
So my reps would have to manually re-enter most of this data when cloning. For that reason, I think it would be very beneficial to have some sort of form shortening capability on record create.
Thank you for the continued discussion on this thread. I’d like to share an update on the enhancements we’ve made to address the most pressing needs.
Enhancements
Conditional properties are now supported: you can change the deal pipeline or stage during cloning, letting you split deals or tickets at clone time.
The cloned record now stores the source record’s name and record ID in Record source property 1 and Record source property 2. You can now set up a workflow to create an association between the source and cloned records, then copy any additional properties with the Edit record action.
Let’s keep the conversation going—please leave feedback in the in-app survey or in our form here.
There seems to be an issue with the dropdown properties when cloning a deal (haven't tested other records).
Basically, you can see the options, but when you select them, the property remains empty and nothing happens. Since we have required properties on deal creation, this completely blocks us from using the feature
Hello, I've tried to clone a contact. In the Create New Form I had to add all personal info of the new contact but don't have the chance to copy the address and other company properties I'd like to keep - for which purpose I'd like to use cloning among others. In this version cloning does not reduce my workload at all.
