Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please!
Update from @JoeMayall: Due to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."
And for the deafult property, of course it's been a while that you can do it with workflow (with trigger object_ID is know, like deal ID is konw, company ID is know, ...) but maybe you mean when you don't have access to workflows ?
@Jim_from_Charik thanks for the link, I'll have a look at your tool.
I do already have various workflows set up for setting default values...I'm mostly saying that it shouldn't have to be that way! Workflows should not be a requirement for something so simple that is available in every other CRM. I feel the same way about cloning deals, it's a basic feature that I could build automation on but shouldn't have to.
I really hope that including Cloning as a Workflow action will be supported with this.
Use Case: Subscription Deal Closed Won - Deal contains line items
Renewal Opportunity Deal Created from a Clone of the original, so it still includes the correct Line Items
This would also require improvements for how date properties are set in Workflows though, since you can only choose number of days or a specific hard coded date... instead of +1 Month or +1 Year... you can only choose +X Days.
Either way, this is a step in the right direction.
Surprised there’s no “duplicate deal” option. We have lots of deals that repeat every year (sometimes in a different pipeline) and it’s a pain to recreate them manually. A simple clone button would make life easier.
Hey EVERYONE so we've been waiting and waiting but guess what... Basic Record Cloning is NOW IN PRIVATE BETA🎉 Shout out to @NazM and the enitre product team on this one. Here's some more on this...
What is it?
Introducing record cloning, users can now create a new record based on an existing record. Any of the properties and associations that areconfigured in the create form of the objectmay be included in the new record.
Why does it matter?
All or part of records may be reusable. Today, users have to do the hard work of copying information from one record to another because they can't clone records. With this update, users are able to duplicate CRM records (Contact, Company, Deal, Ticket, custom objects, Appointments, Listings, Services, and Courses) from their record page. Cloning is an essential feature that saves time and minimizes the risk of mistakes from manual input.
How does it work?
When viewing a record, users with permission to create a new record will find a new option in the Actions dropdown menu. The Clone action starts the record creation with properties and associations pre-filled from the source record.
Hi everyone -- As of today, we are in a limited beta with a selection of users who had signed up on the interest form. If you are keen to try the beta right away, I encourage you to add your name and Hub Id to the form. We'll be gradually expanding the beta and would be happy to have you included in the next round!
@NazM thank you for this! I'm working with it now. While cloning from a record is great, I was also hoping for the ability to clone via Workflow.
My use case:
Tracking Deal revenue by Office Month-over-Month. So a 5-year contract comes in as 1 deal, then "cloning" that Deal for each month of the contract with the start date being the next month in perpetuity until the end of the contract. I have all the custom calculation fields to make this work. What I cannot figure out (and what I was hoping this cloning ability would do) is how to move the start date of each "child" Deal forward one month from the previous child Deal.
I have a Workflow that moves the original Deal through over and over (very messy), but if I could just ask for a Clone + 30 days on the Start Date, it would be much cleaner...at least in my mind's eye.
Will the ability to Clone via WorkFlow be added to this or is that something you've thought of? Thanks!!
Not sure if others are experiencing the same issue. I did try the record cloning beta, with specific attention to the ability to clone deals. However, in trying the cloning tool, I realized that I’m unable to use this feature because in our system, line items are required fields when creating a new deal. I temporarily removed line items as a required field when setting up a new deal, and now the button to clone is not greyed out any further, meaning that we cannot have line items as a required field for recording cloning to work.
This is a big disappointment for us, and we hope that your team considers changing the functionality so that if line items are required as part of a system-wide deal creation process, the cloning feature can still work.
Hi everyone - Thank you @lgancarz for reporting the issue with required Line Items. The fix should now be available to all who are enrolled in the beta. Please give it a go and let us know if you have any additional feedback!
All who have added an entry in the beta interest form should have the "Basic Record Cloning" product update. Don't forget to enroll in the beta before checking it out!
This is HUGELY important, as we're hoping to make Line Items mandatory too, and will need Cloning to duplicate the Line Items too
I found this thread because I wanted to clone Deals with Line Items via Workflows... i.e: create a renewal Deal as soon as the original new business Deal is Closed Won. But even then, for some reason the date options when editing / setting the Close Date are completely useless for automation anyway, so it probably won't be a complete solution. I think I will just have to figure out how to do it all via the API.
hey community, while HubSpot offers basic cloning (wich is great!) you may still consider using CloneNer app, for some out-of the box cases, and more advanced cloning experience. Give it try - it worth it. Our users, and hubspottters love it. It's certified by HubSpot as well as fully integrated into the system. /John
