We have created different versions of the same product in order to navigate an increasingly online world (ie. Empathy School in-person and virtual Empathy School).
We need to have unique line items, descriptions, pricing and margins, for these separate products but really need to be able to report on them as an overall product family (empathy school).
This was a standard field in Salesforce and was extremely helpful.
Creating sub-products, child-products, or product families feels like a must-have for reporting purposes.
