Now that we can create custom properties for Products, can we enable calculated properties for Products? Without this basic feature, our products have quantitative properties that we have to manually calculate before adding to HubSpot. This creates room for error.
Yes agreed with @Mike_ it is so strange products/line items aren't treated like any other objects.
Even workflows have since become an object and given properties in the settings, including calculated properties, all in the time since we have even received an update on this from Hubspot.
I don't think there is any need to explain the importance of this in a CRM, that has been iterated on many times here. We would just like to have an update on this at the very least. I don't even need quarterly updates as @ethankopit said, just some type of recent acknowledgement would be nice.
I actually opened up a support ticket to try to find out what is going on with this feature and why it's been in planning for two years and still we haven't received it in beta yet. I didn't recieve any update but was told I could email customersuccessteam@hubspot.com to further the need for the feature. I figured I mention it here because I know a lot of you are in the same boat and want an update on when we will finally get this capability.
Agree wholeheartedly that calculated properties and/or score properties are needed for more customisation of Products/Line Items. I have a client with a use case where we'd like to update the "Term" in months automatically, based on two custom date picker properties. So it's a simple formula/calculation which would remove the possibility of user error.
Happy to discuss the use case with a Product Manager, since I imagine this is a common requirement. Many thanks in advance!
To expand on this Hubspot Line Items include "Unit Price" and "Unit Cost" out of the box. This allows Hubspot to show margin for each Line Item.
HubSpot Deals have standard fields called "Annual contract value" and "Total contract value". These fields are excellent for reporting the total of all line items in a Deal both annually and for the the full contract term.
However, there are not standard fields for "Annual contract cost", "Total contract cost", "Annual contract margin", or "Total contract margin".
If an item costs $5 to purchase, and is sold for $7, currently we can only report on the $7, not the $5 cost nor the $2 margin.
I've spoken to the support over the last few days and still have no reply on how to perosonalize quote templates without coding the html. I need a user friendly way to add those new properties to the line items.
I've been told to find external programmer help to code a child template but I don't have one! I tried to see the . I hope this feature comes soon! I tried to find a service partner in the hubspot Solutions directory but they all start from 5000$!
Very much a need for my client! We need to be able to calculate the p&l for each month, with a split in the revenue across multiple months for each line item as the active incoming revenue can be at different times throughout the year within 1 deal. This would only be possible to do with calculated product properties.
We've just run into this in our reconstruction of our Hubspot CRM. This is an absolute for us. Without a timeline we'll be looking elsewhere. Very surprising that this basic functionality isn't baked in.
It's insane to me that this isn't a feature. We are in industrial manufacturing, so every single line item is broken down into four pricing "categories" - engineering price, material price, manufacturing price, and shipping price. All of these need to be added up to get the price per unit. For whatever mindboggling reason, HubSpot doesn't allow us to edit the default formulas for Unit Price/Net Price, nor can we create calculated fields for products/line items, so I can't even create my own workaround.
This seems like a ridiculously easy feature to deploy and should be pretty common sense with a tool like this. Salesforce and Zoho have this ability, so why does HubSpot lack such an incredibly basic feature AND updates after four years of discussion and upvotes here? 🤔
I also need to be able to create calculation fields in our products - I need this to work our commission which are different depending on the service (or product) and I need to be able to report on these. We don't have access to any more formulas in reporting so I can't use that, but if I could have calculation fields with the line items of a deal then this would be a game changer and take away another manual job. Thanks!
@ethankopit, could you please provide any new news on this? The last update was around 2 ½ years ago, and the need/desire/requirement for this to make HubSpot work for a whole host of customers has notdiminished.
Right now, the simple task of taking what I see on the screen about my deal (SKU A x 4; SKU B x 3; SKU Z x 5) is invisible as data for us to work with. So, I can't apply any logic to it unless I ask our BD teams to manually update separate custom fields, which is not going to happen -- or at least not in a way that we can rely on.
@ethankopit Looking to see if this is on Q4 2024/Q 2025 roadmap? Our business deals in price/sq ft and it would be AMAZING if my reps could plug the numbers into a line item to get custom pricing. All of our products are custom size so making a line item for every size is impossible and impractical.
Seems that most users need something similar to this and I'm hoping to see HubSpot keep up!
We had to make our Product Library hundreds and hundreds of products when it should really be 8 products. We need to be able to use the Product Library as a calculator tool ie to calculate the price of a line item based on volume/product specifics.
For example, we have 1 product that we price by # of seats and # of states (GIS tool) that the customer has access to. We can make seats/states separate line items, but we really don't want to have hundreds of products for each 1 state, 2 states, 3 states, 4 states and 1 user, 2 users, 3 users etc.
We should also be able to have variable pricing based on tier: Essetials, Enterprise, etc. Same product, different tier with different pricing.
It's also SUPER important that if we put the Product in the Product Library at the annual rate and then the sales rep changes the cost on the quote or subscription to another term (monthly, quarterly, etc) that HubSpot changes the cost automatically.
I just looked up my original request -- it was posted in 2020!! It is clear hubspot is not going to do this and we will need to continue to do this by hand. Im just kinda done with it..and hubspot. I think it makes sense to find anothe rtechnology to use and migrate.
