This is a critical next step in bringing the HubSpot forms to full functionality. There is so much value in having calculation available, especially even in this small instance where there needs to be the capability to at least have a property calculate based on inputted data regardless of the number of input values.
I would rename this idea as something like: "Bug: Calculated fields can't handle empty values"
I recently discovered the same issue that generated errors for my client's sales reports.
The calculated field I've created should sum the values of 4 number (currency) fields on a deal which contains estimated monthly subscriptions for different services. However, the calculated field is only calculated when there's a value on each of these 4 fields it's summing up. In other words, the calculated field "crashes" if one or several fields are empty. It works perfectly if all the fields have values - even if they are all zeroes.
I've also tried setting zero values with if functions etc. with no luck. It's as if a field doesn't exist in the system for calculations when it's empty.
See the screenshots attached and the sample output on them.
I got the confirmation from HubSpot support that this is "a current feature" of the calculated fields.
Value in all 4 fields to be summed. Works well.Only 1 field has value. No calculation is made.
