Business card scanner - customisable input fields?
Our sales team do a lot of business at fairs, conferences and similar events. They really like the business card scanner, because it lets them save a lot of time; however, they're requesting a way to also record which event they met their potential contacts at, without having to later update each new contact manually.
Now, we already have a "Contact information" property to record this information; it's a "multiple checkboxes" field where each event we display at is a separate line item, sorted with the most recent at the top of the list. (We did it this way to prevent typo-related duplicates.) This field has to be updated individually and manually, which isn't easy on the mobile app and takes the sales team's time and attention away from event prospecting.
Now, the business card scanner only scans what's on the card, and that's okay. But on the "Final review and edit" page, there are only the same five fields - Full name, Job title, Email, Mobile and Website. If we could add more property fields onto the "Final review and edit" page, the sales team could enter the values for these properties at the end of the scanning process.
Given that a Super Admin can modify the default views, properties, and forms for the HubSpot browser interface, and given that doing so modifies the list of available fields in the "Create -> Contact" form on the iOS & Android app, would it be possible to create a customization interface for the mobile app's "Scan business card" form?
Agree! as an international company we need to add extra property such as country of the visitor as a field in the business card for the follow up workflow.
Totally agree. Also, a mobile number simply isnt enough. These days clients have Mobile as well as personal, and even office numbers on their card. customizing this seems like a no brainer!
Yes this would be a nice feature. As a work around we setup a workflow to TAG the event based on cards scanned through the business card reader app.. We have the workflow activate to Original source drill-down 2 is equal to any of business-card-scanner .
Anyone know how to get the country or address off the business card into hubspot through the app
Totally agree! Why just looking for the name of the contact, but no way to scan the company name! We are doing business, not just collecting email addresses, so company and country are really mandatory for lead creation - why not make it customizable or at least give us company and country. Now it's just useless and has no marketing automation touch.
Im shocked this doesnt exist...so we have a business card scannerand they only limit the fields to first name, last name, job title, cell phone, email and website? Cards often have address and other numbers and the name...and it should also allow us to customize or have a note field right there. The last ones would be nice but having a card scanner that doesnt get everything from the card or allow us to have custom fields is insane and I came here becuase I thougt we must be doing something wrong.
So we need to take pics of the card and send that to an admin and then go and manually add the missing info? Does anyone know another card scanner that will sync to hubspot or at least excel that we should use instead?
It is not at bad as it seems, as the information is pulls in is the key information. You can manually add items at that time, if needed. Most of the other info on the card is not really used. Also when it loads you can configure hubspot to smart fill the company information, though this may not always match the card as it is scrapped from the web. The app works really well, it is fast to load and its free. My only complaint was the rest of hubspot is so flexible, not sure why this app is so ridged. I am sure there are other apps. The backend integration ones I have seen typically cost money and don't integrate well. Better to get generate to excel and upload to hubspot
As a work around, we customized some contact fields and added them to the left contact panel, which is visible in the App, when in the contact. So basically you create the contact with the business card scanner, which takes you to the contact in the App, then you edit the contact information in the App for the new fields added. It is not a clean as handling it during the business card scanner load, but doable.
Agreed that this is a must have feature! Being able to put in all of the neccesary fields that we want right from the scanner UI rather than actually going into the contact page would save a lot of time and unneccessary errors because of forgetting the fill in the required fields we have.
