Bulk remove association

Hello! I would love to have the option to bulk remove associations.

For example, let's say that some contacts were accidentally bulk associated to the Company A but I wanted them to be in Company B. What I can do is bulk associate the contacts to Company B but I'd have to individually remove the associations to Company A.

It would be great to either automate this or have a way to do this in bulk to streamline my workflow.

The industry we support has costant turnover, having the ability to remove associations in bulk would really speed up data cleanup in our system.

This  is causing us serious issues to manage accurate Company profiles. If this cant get fixed soon we will look at another CRM that is more flexible in regards to contact associations.

@KDobbelaere & @LPerner,

This isn't a perfect solution, but I have had some success building a workflow that met my criteria and having the action. be to remove the unwanted association labels.

If you haven't turned it on already, this beta "New Workflow Actions for Associations" is pretty slick.  It allows you to add, update, or remove associations in a workflow which weren't previously available.

Hope that helps, but I do agree, it would be nice to bulk upload this.

This would be so useful, if it's so quick and easy to create the assocaition via an import, it needs to be as quick to undo those steps.

We've just imported 150 donations against a single company via an import and now we have to manually remove that association one by one. Insane! Please develop this feature, anything that can be done in an import, needs to be undone just as easily.

In fact, being able to delete imports would have also helped our particular situation!

@KatAllen,

150 by hand sounds horrible!

This doesn't fix the import issue, however there is a beta version available for workflows that allow you to add or remove association labels .  If this happens to you again, it's pretty easy to create a quick workflow meeting your criteria with the action to remove the association label.

I came across this as I wanted to set associations via workflow, plus reference existing associations, and it's been very helpful!

Hey @DReyes815, HubSpot does have the new associations in workflow features that might be worth checking out. Additionally the API could be an option here, if you have development resources you can utilize.

Also just wanted to mention that Insycle can help with this. Full disclosure, I work for Insycle. But Insycle allows you to add/remove/replace (which is essentially remove and then re-adding new associations in one action) in bulk. You can use any field in your database as a potential matching field between the associations, and can inject association templates directly into HubSpot Workflows so that records are automatically associated after they are created and before your first communications go out to customers and accounts.

Here is an article that breaks down all of the different association types and features. Hope that helps.

Hey @DReyes815, and many others by the looks of things!

At H&D, we've been using Integration Glue for this for a while now. E.g

MatthewBoyd_1-1721329170068.png

This workflow will remove associations to any Deals based on selected association labels, or 'all'

That said, their Workflow Association Manager actually covers the email side of things too. E.g

MatthewBoyd_2-1721329394344.png

This workflow is operating every time an activity is logged on a Contact, and it removes associations to every email where the Body or Subject Line of the email don't contain that person's email address. But you could make that Activity Reference be anything you want e.g weghrggvcaesghrdad1534wgs if you want to remove association to EVERY email.

Hope this helps!

Hi KyleMashkoori and @DReyes815,

Do you have the hubspot link for those new association actions for the workflow? I am trying to do it in a workflow but cant seem to find any association actions. TIA!

Really need to see this idea get some traction, HubSpot Team!

Our Use Case: We have a home grown customer portal where folks can file certain types of claims. When they do, an email is sent to all involved parties and sent to HubSpot so that a ticket can be created for our team to manage. These types of claims can often get filed automatically. HS is trying to associate the ticket to a contact for our company email address that sends these notices from our customer portal and it's not necessary. We have already hit the association limit. It would be great for me to remove the association for all 10k in bulk because we only need the customers associated to the ticket, not our company email.

Notification Pain Point: The other issue is that we are going to get automated system notification emails for this regularly now that say "The following records are approaching the TICKET per CONTACT association limit" because we have hit the 10k limit. Either let me turn these notifications off so we can ignore it, or give me a way to bulk remove associations so this is easier for us.

Ideal Solution: Go to the contact record for our company email address - view all associated tickets in the list view and then select all (like you would if you were editing any other property) and select remove association to contact record and then click yes.

So true.
Hubspot team needs to work on it ASAP.

We also need this for custom objects. When they incorrectly get associated we have to manually remove sometimes 80+ accounts.

@SFox12 - I had the same issue and was able to run a list through a workflow to remove the associations.  A bulk process would be preferred, but let me know if you need help with building a workflow to do it for you.
