When sending out a marketing email, often to hundreds, if not thousands of prospects, the sender gets inundated with a flood of out of office replies from the recipients.
It would be great if Hubspot could automatically block these from going into a sender's inbox using the "Out of Office" subject as the filter.
This is annoying (especially for larger companies), however, it also allows us to see what email addresses are no longer in use (i.e. when someone has left the company) and therefore helps with data cleansing. If this was implemented by Hubspot it would be better if it could be turned off or on depending on the user's needs.
Hi Michelle, yes absolutely, having an ability to turn on and off would be really good. I think overall this is actually more annoying for smaller companies which I am a part of as we don't have the same email filtering capability that bigger companies employ via their own IT departments and systems.
I also agree it would be useful to know who has left a company in order to cleanse the data - however the overwhelming majority of our out of office replies come from people who are simply out for a day or a week on holiday. Our experience of people who have left companies is that we recieve hard bounces of their email address enabling us to remove them from our database rather than the response being an out of office.
We are a large law firm, and our partners are our brand. So, it is vital that the "sender" is the actual partner's account. This creates major headaches, however, when all of the automatic "out-of-office" or undeliverable replies are inundating the partners' email accounts. We did not experience this situation with Constant Contact. When we signed on with Hubspot, we saw this as a major upgrade over Constant Contact, but not having this basic level of functionality is frustrating and disappointing.
This was a really useful element of MailChimp and I'm so surprised it's not something that can be utilised in HubSpot - the option to turn on and off at least so people wanting to track responses can and those not wanting each email campaign to result in a clogged up inbox can have them filtered out. There's always the option to look at a campaign after it's sent to see who received it. Please do this soon Hubspot!
HubSpot folks, this needs to be given priority to if you want the folks who are thinking of converting from MailChimp or similiar platform to come to yours. It's standard functionality in All your competitors to my knowledge.
With the abilty to assign the Reply-To Address, it would be more helpful if these emails were delivered to this email address instead of the From Address. That way that sender is not innudated with these and I can assign someone internally to go through this information to cleanse our data.
There should absolutely be an ability to filter auto-replies into a different inbox - these are marketing emails after all! The secondary inbox can still be accessed for data cleansing, but all of those replies don't have to go directly to the sender. We are a small company, similar to many others on this chain, and our newsletter comes directly from our CEO. It is frustrating for him to have hundreds of auto-replies come in after we deploy a newsletter. We will be creating a "fake" email account for him, but I hope HubSpot considers updating the "reply to" inbox options. Thank you!
We just moved to HubSpot from Mailchimp. When I speak to HubSpot about it, they say it's not possible because of how auto responses work. Mailchimp filters out-of-office responses every time, so it's definitely possible. Mailchimp also offers a virtual inbox, so an email can be sent from an individual in your company, and when people reply to the email, it looks like they are replying to the individual, but the email actually gets delivered to a virtual inbox that can be managed by our marketing team. This was very helpful when sending an email from executives in the company. Please, HubSpot, this issue with filtering out auto-replies is a really important feature. HubSpot is so much better than Mailchimp in almost every other way. Why let them beat you on this?
We've only quite recently started leveraging HubSpot 'Marketing Email' facility. I 'air quote' the name, as it's not ACTUAL marketing emails, we are sending newsletters and business updates to our partners/resellers, and this is the only wayo to do/track it en masse. It's crazy that the functionality to turn off automated OOO responses to an emai doesn't exist in Hubspot. All my experience in tools like Mailchimp, Oracle, and other ESPs were that checking a simple button filtered OOO and auto-responses from every coming back to me. The mailbox flood with our HubSpot emails is a real nnuisance and creating more fuss than it really should.
I feel this could be a quick fix/win solution for us, please HubSpot?
This causes us the same issue - the sender is inundated with auto-replies/OoO. These are valuable to detect emails no longer in service, but it would be prefereable to have them send to a specific email address, not necessarily the sender.
