Better method for tracking trade shows and events as a lead source.

For many companies, trade shows and events are a key driver of leads throughout the year. But I cant' see a good way to track them with HS tools, and don't see the problem addressed in KB.

We can't modify the Original Source drilldown 1 or 2 to add the trade show name there. And there's not an event or trade show category anywhere that is tied into the lifecycle and lead tracking.

How can we make decisions about budgets by comparing trade shows to ads or organic, without tools to discreetly track events and particular trade shows to judget their efficacy.

I appears that Hubspot has made it possible to modify Original Source and Drilldown 1 and 2, so now people can capture those event sources within the same construct as other sources.

However, that assumes every event connection you want to track is some type of "source", and that's not realistic. For attribution modeling, we want to see if touches and connections at live events contribute to won deals, so we want to track event touches w hether it's a contact source or just a data point in the journey.

Hubspt hasn't really solved this. See that they note: At this time, this does not extend to the original source drill down properties. However, if you do update the original source of a contact, it will clear the original source drill down properties from their original values.

Since you can't edit the drill down, it's not useful. You can't effectively track which tradeshow the lead came from if all you can specify is offline sources.

Hubspot please come up with a better solution.

Second that.  Not being able to add / modify offline sources is a real issue / and strikes us a very strange even in this day and age.

Trade shows and other in-person events are a big deal.
