Be able to access past users data and report on it

We use reports of past users (users that are no longer part of our team) activities, deals opened etc to analyse how we're doing against previous years activity. We can't isolate a previous user's data it seems. It gets allocated to 'unknown user'. It would be better if it was still under that person's name but in a different colour or prefixed with PE (past employee) or PC (past colleague).
