We are wanting to accommoplish the following in HubSpot and have been told it is not possilbe at this time.
Upon a Sales Rep trying to closed a Deal as "Closed Lost", we would like there to be a popup that presents them with a mandatory field to fill out for the Closed Lost Reason.
We were planning to create our own custom Closed Lost Reason property that is a dropdown as opposed to the current open ended textfield. The reason for this is we want to be able to segment based on the reason in the future. So, for example, if a potential customer said the product was too costly, we could select the dropdown "Budget" as the reason and then in the future we could create a campaign list based on Closed Lost Reason is equal to "Budget". I would also propose that the current Closed Lost Reason native HubSpot property be changed to "Closed Lost Reason Expanded" so that a longer explanation can still be captured if necessary.
The key point however is making the selection of the dropdown mandatory before being able to Close Lost a Deal. This way the Sales Rep wouldn't have to come back later and try to remember why it was a lost deal. It would be more efficient and wouldn't require any ramp up for the user.
Being able to quickly segment for reasons such as "Budget", "Competition", "Timing", "Features", "Support", "Usability" etc. would be really powerful for revisiting potential customers.
