442 upvotes, tells me this is a issue that needs sorting. For all the hype around HubSpot I'm extremely disappointed at its lack of fundamental functionality. For the money this CRM tool costs one would think adding tax as default, a set tax at a set rate would be basic functionality.
this is ridiculous that not one persone from Hubspot seems to be replying to this! this is such an annoying attribute of Hubspot and needs changing.....YESTERDAY!!!
I find it ridiculous that there is zero customization on the lower tiers. For the CRM starter suite it should be possible to save standard terms and save a standard tax rate.
Don't think we'll be staying with Hubspot unfortunately. Some really nice features but other critical features come at an insane price jump.
CRM etc is supposed to save time, make business more efficient and to stop us humans making mistakes etc but I keep coming across little issues like this which could be disastrous for a company. If a big quote is sent out and a member of staff forgets to add VAT, it could have serious financial consequences for us.
A quick fix could be so easily implemented.
Just add a default % tax column for each product item. It would then be up to us how we set this.
At a later time, you could give us the option of setting the tax per country.
In UK we would charge 20% to all UK customers and 0% to others (I know it is slightly more complicated than that but we can adjust as and when we need to)
This issue is open in numerous places and has been for years. Please sort this, I'm close to quitting Hubspot.

I have been a hubspot subscriber for 3 year and I was advised when we joined 3 years ago that this feature would be implemped. Still waiting....
I have now given hubspot an ultimatum, I've advise and I will not be renewing my subscription when it falls due at the end of June. The lack of this feature over the years has cost me tens of thousands of dollars in uncollected GST. Since the start of 2024 alone we have not received around $7,000 in missed quoted GST.
As a result of this ultimatum hub spot have escalated this matter. My suggestion to anyone else sick of waiting for this feature also puts pressure on hub spot so multiple cases are escalated and we have a chance of getting this resolved.
HubSpot employee adding a +1 as this is causing customers to lose revenue.
Even if it's not possible to have tax automatically added, any way possible to add a required dropdown at least with "add taxes? yes/no" logic or even a prompt would be very helpful - e.g. If yes, require taxes input if no, continue w/ quote creation process.
