Automated US Sales Tax

We are currently rolling out a consumer model to one of our locations so having to manually add a line for tax is not that cumbersome.  We do plan to roll out to additional areas and removing the human error from any of our locations across the US where taxes are concerned would be a god send.

Please allow the ability to connect with known tax systems such as Avalara, that will automatically calculate state-based tax for Hubspot Payments. Without an automated way to calculate tax, the Hubspot Payments tool can't be used.

Absolutely needed - happy to hear this is in planning. Our sales team is currently quoting out of a cumbersome ERP, but it integrates with Avalara. We want to move them to HubSpot - but the biggest hangup is the lack of automated sales tax within quotes. Hopefully this becomes possible!

We use Anrok as our sales tax management software, which has an integration with Stripe. This works well for us as we currently use the legacy Stripe integration with our Hubspot quotes - so we generate quotes in Hubspot, include payment links to Stripe, and then sales tax gets automatically handled by Anrok. With the legacy Stripe integration being sunset in November and no support available yet for sales tax in Commerce Hub, we're left with a very large gap in our business operating procedures. Please consider leaving the legacy Stripe integration available until there's a solution for sales tax.

Hello @jperro ,

I hope you are able to make headway on automatically applying taxes on line items in invoices based on the receipient's postal code, this would be a big hurdle to get HubSpot invoices into the big leagues and solve for the customer.

I currently have a client that is extremely unhappy with having to manage updating tax information in the system as well as manually apply it each to their invoices especially when they are moving away from a system that did this to HubSpot.

Their goal was to simplify the management of invoices but as they discovered this feature's limitations, you can imagine their disappointment. I hope to see Commerce Hub evolving more rapidly and release this and other highly requested new features soon!

Keep up the good work and thank you:-)

Hello! I'm back with an exciting update -- today, we launched our private beta for automated sales tax on invoices. As this is our first release, please note there are a few limitiations:

  • Automated tax is only available to customers in the US & Canada (future country support tentatively in 2025)
  • Automated tax is availble to customers using our Stripe Payment Processing edit: and as of December 10th, available to HubSpot Payments
  • Automated tax is only available on Invoices currently (We are currently targeting Q1 to integrate automated tax into our remaining tools including Quotes, Payment Links, and Subscriptions)

If you're interested in enrolling in the private beta, please check out the product update in your account to request access. Thanks!

Where are we on this, do we have automatic sales tax with hubspot payments yet?

@ecola I apologize for not updating my prior comment earlier, but yes we did expand to HubSpot payments in December. If you'd like access to the beta, you can request access under Product Updates in your HubSpot account or you can send me an email at jperro@hubspot.com - thanks!

We are deep in the weeds trying to export tax data from HS Invoices to Stripe.  We use Stripe Tax for tax calculations in WooCommerce and would love to be able to use Stripe Tax to drive tax calcs in HS INvoices too.  Or, at least, get HS tax data into Stripe so Quickbooks can read it.

Any updates would be appreciated.
