I think we need to add a feature to stop automatic adding the attachments from the received emails so any user should be able to enable or disable this option.

Maybe only exclude signature-attachments? That would already help. Many other attachments are valuable (but not al, definitely not all.....)

Agreed. So many of our clients have images as part of their email signatures, resulting in the contact and company records getting cluttered with unnecessary documents. I like the concept of enabling/disabling for all as well, since we at times send or receive blank and test documents that do not need to be stored.

Agree!

This automatic function also results that a lot of png footers from emails are directly logged in hubspot.

Very annoying...

It should only upload email attachments.  The fact that it uploads footers it incredibly annoying and really creates alot of attachments that make the attachment section an absolute mess.  I contacted HubSpot and they were no help.  Only told me I could delete the extra attachements.  No kidding, really?  What they clearly don't understand is that it's constant!

I agree -- this is important!

Definitely agree.  PNGs from signatures are a nuisance for sure, but this also makes things confusing when there are multiple deals for a single company / customer and it's automatically attaching PDF quotes, etc., that are for separate deals.

Has anyone heard any updates on a fix to this?  I was told by HubSpot that they review these forums and take our input seriously.  This issue has been going on since, I believe, January.  I've heard nothing from HubSpot on this.

Yes Please.  Stop the automatic loading of  attachments in the contact record.   Its **bleep**ing horrible and pollutes the contact record.  Especially since its pulls 90% of the time from the reps signatures.  At least before I could delete with 1 click and now it gives ANOTHER prompt and screen pop.  Awful.  Get rid of it.  Or just give the option to turn on or turn this feature.

I cannot agree more - because of this function, people cannot find what they look for and I have to find it for them. Its a double handling....

We are expiriencing the same issue with email attachements proliferating in Hubspot.  I created a similar Idea thread linked below.

Is there any update on if a change to this feature has been made or is planned?

thank you.

Every company needs to know exactly where their sensitive information is stored, the fact that HubSpot automatically uploads my email attachments into their portal is a security nightmare.  I've had to go in and manually detach each document, for security and compliance purposes, I urge HubSpot to add a setting to turn this feature off.

I'd like to have more options available with how we determine what is added to the attachments section rather than only being able to delete documents that are automatically added.  Possibly turning off the feature that automatically loads documents sent via email into the attachments section and then giving us the ability to simply add what attachments we'd want would be very helpful.

This has become a real nighmare for our company. This is much needed.

Hubspot has rolled out an opt out option for email attachments.  here is a link to their guidance.

It should also be possible to select in the HubSpot Outlook Add-In weather an attachment should bei stored in HubSpot attachments or not. That would help a lot!!!

I agree. Having the option to turn off automatic adding of email attachments would be amazing.

I'm editing my original comment from this point. It originally said that in my company's case we would prefer all attachment logging turned off, but actually there is a site-wide off switch for attachment logging. It just doesn't work in a way that could solve our problem, so here's my new take.

* Our customer service reps who use the HubSpot Inbox need to be able to see attachments on those emails. Turning off attachment logging meant emails in the inbox had their attachments stripped. I want attachments to be in emails but not on the right sidebar.

* We also have sales people who need access to each other's emails, which they do by going to contact records and looking at the emails logged there. They need to be able to get to attachments in emails on records.

* Neither of the groups of people above needs attachments in the right sidebar. It's not useful for them to see a file without the context of the email it came in. The right sidebar area would be good for logging manually chosen files only. We want to attach hand-picked, deal-specific reference documents in that area, but it's no use doing this because the automatically logged ones burry them, so it's too inefficient for people to look through the large number of files for the relevant ones.

Suppression of at least signature images would be a great.  Some of our tickets have 5+ extra attachments because hubspot is picking out "Facebook/Twitter/Instagram" images that many people have in their business signatures.

Agree to suppressing signature attachments!

Would also be fantastic if you could prevent attachments to be automatically added to the right sidebar, but still visible in the  the Activity Log history.
