Once a quote has been created, its deal association can no longer changed. For example, if I were to create Quote A, it was originally associated with Deal B. However, we only realized that it was associating to the wrong deal after the quote has been published. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to change the association of Quote A to Deal A at this time and quotes would have to be manually created again.

Still trying to get a handle on quotes, deals, invoices, etc.
I created a deal and quote a while ago and needed to create a similar quote and deal today. I cloned the quote but then realized that the new quote was assotiated with an old deal. No problem - I thought. I'll just create a new deal and add the quote. Nope. Learned today that you can't make a quote out of order. You need to make the deal first. What? Why can't I simply add an exisiting quote to a new deal?
Hmm.... The Bot says we can do this... I had a glimmer of hope... Can't believe this is still not possible after a few years of comments. Seems like a simple database association.....

The quote should be independent, where you can add a quote that is already created to a deal. Workaround could be to create a deal with all the line items in the deal, and then copy that but it doesn't work, as the line items don't get created when you copy a deal. Often a new quote is created annually for a deal, so would be nice to have a method for easily replicating the deal/quote for the renewal.
If the cloning deal would work, then that could be an option. Cloning quote works, but then you can't add to a new deal, so there is not current solution.
The quote should be independent and able to be added to a deal.
Currently quotes can be cloned, but then you can't add them to a new deal. I'd like to be able to clone a quote and add it to the renewal deal so that I don't have to do the whole quote again. Often a new deal is created as a renewal, and would be same or similar to previous deal. One other way that might work is you could clone a deal with the detailed line items in the deal, but currently when you copy the deal the line items do not replicate.
How is this not prioritized, as it is common for people to create renewal deals and quotes etc.....??

@hhiggins, We regularly re-quote recurring customers, and each quoting cycle is tied to a new deal, as they represent a unique business opportunity. Occasionally, quotes are accidentally linked to outdated deals; currently, there’s no way to reassign them.
Re-creating quotes from scratch isn’t just inefficient; it also risks confusion with customers, as we have to re-send the newly created quote, which can cause duplicate communications and/or misaligned records.
Being able to reassign a quote to the correct deal would preserve data integrity, improve pipeline tracking, and reduce friction in customer interactions.
Anyone else run into this? Would love to see this functionality added to the road map!
Hi Hallie, I know you are probably just passing on the message but it is disappointing that the message after 5 years and 5 pages of requests is that this is not even in consideration to be built and that there is no other workaround or help provided by HS.
Sharing our workaround...
On our company in Hubspot, we have created a template quote for each of our products in each of the currencies that we make quotes in. These you can duplicate because you can change the company that they are associated to. What is annoying about this solution is that every time that we change any part of our product description or terms, we have to go through and update every one of these templates.
It took a lot of time find a solution, to set up it and it takes too much time each time that there is an update, so we wish that there was a better solution, but it works better than creating from scratch every time.
It seems like a failuere that this isn't working. We have just migrated a SalesForce solution to HubSpot but it actually makes it more troublesome for the salespeople at our client. So they are not satisfied with HubSpot. Marketing though wants HubSpot. So if sales was the only user at our client they would prefer salesforce. And one of the big issues is that when my client sell their software they often renew/update the quote year after year. That means just copy and change the few things that has to be changes. Wery easy in salesforce. In HubSpot you cannot associate a cloed quote to a new deal. So you have to create all new. And that is the opporsite of the idea with HubSpot.
If we want to match SalesForce this has to be fixed.
Not to pile on, but it’s a little wild that we’re five years into this thread and still having to ask for basic system consistency. The core issue here isn’t just that quotes can’t be moved between deals—it’s that there’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to. Every other object in HubSpot can be reassociated or edited to reflect real-world workflows. Quotes are the outlier, and that makes no sense given how often: A quote gets created under the wrong deal, a deal changes scope or ownership mid-cycle, a renewal, upsell, or correction requires cloning and relinking When quotes are locked to the original deal, small mistakes become massive time-wasters—and sales ops teams are forced into recreating work that should be portable with a few clicks. And the limitations don’t stop there: You can’t use views or filters like you can for other objects, you can’t add custom fields (in a usable way), manipulate the object details or adjust hardcoded statuses (ie mark it 'signed' if customer went around the native flow), etc...
Just like a lot of other people, I also need quotes to be reassociated to new deals. The reason is that I work with a customer that gets the quote in a specific way, with the same specific line items, but with a slight different description. Every qoute of this customer needs roughly the same items.
To spare me a lot of time, I just clone the quote and change some numbers. However, the clone of the quote remains in the old deal and cannot be replaced. So I either take another half an hour to build the quote in the right deal, or I do it in 5 minutes, but mess up our administration by using one deal for a lot of different quotes that should be in their own deal.
So to get this clear:
As a user
I want to move a quote to another deal
So that I can reuse earlier made quotes to spare me a lot of time.
shouting into the void - request this as this is extemely helpful to sav trouble of transfering massive amounts of quotes
We require one deal pershipping location and if a rep create 20+ quotes (for 20 locations) on one deal, it's a pain to split these quotes out to 20 separate deals.
