Associate contacts with company but DON"T create company if not existing
This is really strange - the option to automatically assign companies doesn't allow us to choose whether to create or not to create new company records if it company doesn't exist.
We desperately need this option because we are syncing with SalesForce and all our new leads come from HubSpot forms.
Companies are being synced with SalesForce Accounts object, and only sales-qualified leads will have an account/company record created for them. There's no need to create a company/account reccord for each new lead that comes in HubSpot or SalesForce as that will skew our leads management process and fill our CRM with Accounts/Company reccords that will probably never be used.
It will be awesome if we can get this option to chose whether to create or not to create a new company reccord when the auto associate option is turned on.
I second this for the exact same reason. Automatic company creation might make sense if you're only working with HubSpot and aren't integrated with a CRM that uses Lead records like Salesforce or Dynamics, but if you are, as many companies do, then automated association is valuable for detecting contacts from target accounts and existing customers, but haphazardly creating new company records is not.
@hubspot Any update on this? Do you know if this function has been added to the roadmap? I too would like to use the out-of-the-box Company Association property while having the ability to choose what companies are added to the database vs just having the history attached to the contact record of where they worked in the past. Right now we use custom properties but that's not a great workaround.
@Nitsan , I just saw your question. So the SalesForce flow triggers on a lead creation and populates a lookup field related to accounts if the email domain matches the account domain OR if there is a company name fuzzy match. It also assigns the lead to the account owner.
We aren't integrated with SF but this was causing an issue as well as we work with larger companies that have multiple domains (that do not always get listed). Might be nice to be able to choose to...
1. associate the new [email] domain with the existing associated company if different than the company (that way the company record url's list gets updated via the contact creation)
or
2. create new company
or
3. do nothing
