Associate Tasks with Contacts AND Companies by default
Hello,
It would be very helpful to automatically have a Task which was created under a Contact also be associated with the Contact's Company.
There are mentions of this on the community forum already for a couple of different reasons. My reason is as follows:
When I create tasks for various contacts, work those tasks, and find that I may have forgotten to disposition/complete all tasks during that process, it would be great to be able to pull up the Company page and view all tasks associated with the company to get a view of which I may have missed. HubSpot CRM seems to be completely lacking a way to sort tasks by company, both in the above format as well as in on the Tasks pages.
Looking forward to this functionality being implemented.
Reading all the comments on this, I can see that tasks are used in many different ways, many are not what I would want. Tasks need to be included in settings so that they can be set up as required by the user. For us, the customer is the decision maker that we are creating the task to speak with and HS is connecting every deal associated with the company automatically to new tasks. This creates complete confusion in the tasks list and is very frustrating! I would rather that you have to select the associations than have HS carte blanche associating it with things that it shouldn't be. This should be fixed in settings so it can be customized to what makes sense to each business. If you are creating a task in the deal window, only that deal should be connected and the contacts that are connected to the deal. The Company can be associated but I am guessing it is this association that is bringing all of the other deals into the task automatically. The unticking of associations is a waste of time. What is even more frustrating is when a task is already created and a new deal automatically gets associated with it. These automation assumptions are making the task list very disorganized.
This makes no sense since, with sequences, we may enroll 50 contacts from the same company, so logically we would want to complete the tasks in the same order sorted by company, but this association isn't created!
@hubspot It's been 4 years this has been requested and still not implemented. I wonder why?
It's hard to identify the contacts in the task lists which are from the same company. It happens after seqence is ended on multiple leads from the same company.
It feels like every time I search online to find out how to do something in HubSpot; I'm always ending up in the Ideas section of the site instead of the Support section because while it's an obvious need to me (and hundreds of other customers), it's not yet implemented (or even accepted as needed) by HubSpot themselves.
Yeesh. Some of this is undoubtedly table stakes for a CRM platform, right? It really feels like this is a collection of MVP "features" that aren't being connected by a Product team recognising how the product is used. So we have Tasks that can't be associated with any nuance and also can't be automatically added to queues.
Agreed 110%! Taking it a step further, we would like to be able to set default associations for not only companies, but deals and other custom objects. It's such a manual process. And if you can't set the default, at least auto-save your last group of selected associations so you don't have to redo it each time.
I genuinely don't understand how Hubspot has not implemented this feature, after countless requests over a 5 year period..
A simple fix here is have an option for "task association defaults"
-Associate task with deal
-Associate task with contact
-Associate task with company
Or at least set these associations to default as enabled when creating a new task on a deal.
These association options are already there when manually creating a task, it's just a pain checking then on each time and easy to miss.
In fact, when you add Notes, it default the associations to company and Deal. If this can be done for creating a note, surely where not asking for much to include this also on tasks
I can't imagine this being a big job for the dev team. We would really appreciate if feedback was actually actioned
