Once a tag is created in the Knowledge Base it can't be deleted. So misspelled or out of date tags can still be used by the article creators. It doesn't affect the visitor/viewer of the articles, but keeping things clean and organized is a must in tools like HubSpot.
2024 edit: still no word/update on this basic feature
Here is an update from me, the original poster. This post is one of my three posts in which I indicate that we are missing three basic functionalities in our organization. All three posts have been open for over 3 years (or more) without anything happening to them.
The topics are as follows:
1. Can't remove tags from knowledge base articles. 2. Being able to add a location to a meeting. 3. Option to disable automatic contact creation while replying to an email.
HubSpot has not yet shown that they are actively working on these basic features/questions. I also read about many other small features that don't get any response.
We have now decided that we no longer want to pay premium prices for a solution that does not listen to the users. When our subscription expires in Q4, we will switch to another solution that is up to 75% cheaper on an annual basis and offers virtually the same functionalities.
Please add this to the KB functionality soon tech team! I love an accurate list - then duplicates can be deleted and typos corrected. I know you can edit tags in the Marketing tool, so please give us this in KB content too! As part of that, please can you enable an export all KB keyword search tags so they can be reviewed easily. Yours hopefully Alison
It is almost 2026 and I find it really baffling that this feature is still not being taken seriously. It almost seems as if the tags in knowledge bases are not used by HubSpot to search for articles. Good to know I will not be using the tags untill the option is available to also maintain the tags.
