we need an alternative to Google reCaptcha to protect forms from spam. This is due to the fact, that most of our client's data protection officers disallow the usage of Google reCaptcha in the GDPR region. We had to switch off reCaptcha and are receiving massive amounts of spam on several accounts. Apart from this, Google reCaptcha also loads Google Fonts as a subservice.
It would be great, if HubSpot would provide a native captcha or honeypot solution or allow us to add this programmatically, so that we can continue to use the native forms module on HubSpot pages. I know, that you can add your own captcha to any form by integrating forms via HubSpot forms API. But this is not an option when you're using HubSpot CMS professional, since you'd need server-side scripting or a separate web server.
I'm totally on your side, as long as Hubspot uses Google reCAPTCHA, we can't use Hubspot's forms either. Integrating Honeypot as a spam system, for example, is generally not a huge effort.
Bumping this. We are also having this issue. We should not have to integrate a third-party plugin because of GDPR regulations. HubSpot should support other captcha alternatives (such as hCaptcha) that are better integrated with forms and are more secure. Jeopardizing leads and conversions is a large deterrant in remaining a HS customer.
