Allowing Lookup Values as Properties

It would be valuable to be able to create proprties that are lookup values of records from other entities. As an example, On "Companies" I would like to be able to lookup a "Contact" where I could have the contact be a property on the company.  The Contact, serving as a property for Compnies could indicate a "Referring Contact" or "Principal Owner".

This would allow referrals to be tracked for credit and reporting, among other uses.

I really don't understand how, 8ish years into the HubSpot CRM, we still don't have lookup functionality. Almost every other CRM - including Zoho! - has this functionality. The association labels feature they released was an acknowledgment they needed something like this, but it's a very poor imitation.

Wow, really sorry I didn't know this before choosing Hubspot. This is very important to us in modeling relationships. I think next year we move to Salesforce.

Quite appalling from hubspot. You are allowed to cerate custom objects but the customisability of these is very very basic.

We are trying to map champions for different departments and it is a chaotic and manual process. Tried going with association labels but the beauty of these is that you cannot filter for them! aha! so just a nice visual, hurray!

I can't believe that this feature is not present. It is absolutely necessary to be able to use HubSpot as an enterprise database system. Currently I am advising my client that HubSpot cannot model all of their company data. They will probably use the Microsoft Power Platform instead, which can do this.

Also submitting my voice for the need of a lookup field - we are switching fully to HubSpot, yet are super bummed that our opp "referred by" field that looks up and associates the account that referred will not be able to display/carry over.

This is functionality that Hubspot desperately needs, we would greatly benefit from this enhancement and reducing the amount of associated records on a records page.

It would be extremely helpful if a contact submits a form Hubspot not only searches for email, prior to creating a new contact but phone number and/or name as well.  This would certainly clear up a lot of frustation within our sales team from having multiple contacts with multiple contact owners.

Hello Team,
We definately need this feature in Hubspot, but till then has anyone found any workaround to achieve this functionality and who can share it with us.
It would be very helpful.

Thanks & Regards,
Ishan

Hi everyone

This Idea has now >200 Upvotes, so I do hope that some at HubSpot acknowledges it soon!  It's over three years old, still in the "Ideas" submitted category and doesn't even seem to have a HubSpot Product Manager assigned to it. @Shay - I am copying you as the only one of the Product Management team that I have met recently - I know this is not in your area but perhaps there is a Smart CRM Product manager that you can add to this thread?

In the meantime .... everyone I have found this add-on which looks very interesting

https://www.cambiumapps.com/vlookup

It's available through the market place and enables you to conduct an external vlookup in a Google Sheet from within a workflow - useful at least for things like looking up Sales Territory from a list of areas, or a Industry Group from a list of industries etc.  Based on customer feedback, they are also considering other platforms for holding the lookup table such as Salesforce, Airtable, HubDB, SmartSheet (no mention of Excel).

Good luck!

I actually just spoke to my HubSpot CSM about this today.

Having to add contacts or companies by association to a Deal (or a deal and contact to a ticket, etc., etc.) is not efficient.  One, we cannot always require associations in certain use cases and other times, users select incorrectly so having basic - internal object to internal object lookup fields is truly essential.

I am constantly trying to eliminate external sheets and databases with HubSpot so using those add-in sources aren't ideal but depending on how close HubSpot is to developing the solution, we may have to consider.

+1 This is essential for any half decent CRM, I was shocked that basic functionality for even a cheap CRM is missing from HubSpot.

Why is it 2024 and we can't cross reference objects within a supposedly leading CRM?

This has been a feature request for nealy 5 years... not having this means many of us need to do things manually or create duplicate fields.

Hello!

It's 2024 and this functionality is not here yet! 😯 Does anyone know if this is even on Hubspot's To Do list? 🙃

I am in the process of migrating from Zoho CRM to Hubspot. Although I am really enjoying the Hubspot experience, I am totally shcoked that lookup fields (between modules) is not standard. This is something that Zoho CRM had and was so useful. A real let down from Hubspot.

Has anyone found a work around to this in the meantime?

Maybe something around custom Contact)>Company association?

Please Hubspot LISTEN TO US!!

Until you develop this feature Hubspot you will never be competing with Salesforce or MD 365. It's funny because now you even changed pricing model and made your SME clients paying as they would do for Salesforce. I accept it as long as you provide the same technology.

Great initiative! The value for us is espcially regarding forms. It's surprising that currently there's no way have a dropdown of all Companies from a table

Great idea, would like to be able to use this in some of our forms for people to choose companies of contacts from an active list.

I've seen this HubSpot feature request allowing lookup values as properties, and I've built something to implement this. You can use FormMaker to activate this feature. The demo video is available here: https://youtu.be/Er7UG18a_zk share your thoughts with me on this
