Allow for users to set their own company unique identifier
It creates quite a bit of work and allows for duplication when we have to use either company domain name or object ID as a unique identifier for companies. It would be ideal if we could set our own. For example, all of our clients have account numbers. If I could set account numbers as the unique identifier it would make uploading much faster, eliminate duplication, and would align our two systems seamlessly. I am sure that more people would like to set their own identifiers.
It does not make any sense we cannot create a parent with the univeral website for the company, then sub-companies showing all the various locations of the various offices (which use the same domain name). Think Walmart or Amazon. They have one large corporate office and numerous other offices throughout the nation. Everyone, however, has the same domain email. I need to be able to tie the contact to their specific office address so when I go see them or mail them a gift, I know where they are located (which is not in the corporate office address tied to their domain name). A HS help rep said we are unique in this need and I just can't see that this is specific issue just with our clientele.
We are in transportation, and many of our prospects/customers have many locations, each with their own address, contacts, requirements, etc. Forcing me to use domain name means that we cannot have multiple entries within the same company protected.
We distinguish between companies using DUNS number, a unique identifier used globally. By not allowing us to make DUNS number the unique identifier, we are stuck with a system that is not built to effectively protect our data at all. This is a major hole that should be corrected immediately.
This feature is very much needed. Company domain is not always the best way to identify a unique company. Global companies sometimes have a global website with sub-directory urls for countries and you can't add a domain with a sub-directory. This means that company info gets overwritten.
This is still badly needed. Companies have multiple locations with the same domain name. This causes a huge headache during imports. HubSpot automatically merges the account information, or won't import it at all if you do a create only import. This is making so much extra work...
