Allow branded click tracking URL for Hubspot Sales Emails

Hubspot Sales allows click tracking (https://knowledge.hubspot.com/email-tracking/how-can-i-track-links-sent-in-my-emails) but only with a generic Hubspot domain. This makes the click tracking look unnecessary spammy. It would be great, if we could switch the click tracking for Hubspot sales to a custom domain, i.e. through a CNAME record, for example use cl.mydomain.com/1231331 as a URL logic.

@hroberts as the original idea creator, I just wanted to let you know that we are excited that this is in the testing stage - let me know if we can support in tying up the loose ends. As a Hubspot partner we also care about email deliverability a lot.

Hi everyone! I am very excited to share we have a Private Beta ready for you all! Go to the Product Updates section of your portal and search for the entry for "Custom tracking domains for sales and service email". Clicking on the title will open a sidebar with all the details on what's included and how to set it up. If you're ready to test, you can click the Request Beta button to acknowledge HubSpot's Beta Terms. I'll try to get all requests approved within 1 business day, so please wait a day after requesting to check if you're in the beta and can proceed with setup.

IMPORTANT: If you do not see this entry in the Product Updates section, please fill out this form. I did my best to track down the portal ID associated with the community user accounts who have upvoted and commented here, but I'm sure I missed some. Please note that this will get you the ability to see the update and request access from there. I recognize it's frustrating to jump through so many hoops, so if you'd rather wait, we should go to public beta in a few weeks which will make this all self-service.

@hroberts Hi, we got access to private beta for:

Thank you.

 

I did not activate the beta yet as we wanted to test it in our Sandbox first.

 

Now in our production system: 2831317, I see tracking is off:

However when we execute sending a sales email via a sequence the receiver gets an email including tracking code to domain: hs-sales-engage.com 

 

So it looks like we did not activate Beta and tracking is off, but HS is doing tracking.

 

How can I switch this off?

Hi @Bareld! The hs-sales-engage.com is one of our HubSpot-provided domains that is used if you do not have a custom domain set up, so you should expect to see that on tracked emails. You are seeing it even though tracking is disabled because the Sequences product doesn't currently take that setting into account. See the yellow note at the top of this KB article. They have plans to address this soon. I'll get you in contact with our Sequences team! Once you connect your custom domain though, Sequences will use that.

What's the average wait time between applying to the beta and approval?

 

We just signed up to Hubspot and cancelled again as soon as we noticed this issue. Just want to know the timeframe to see if there's a point in "waiting" or whether we're talking multiple days or even weeks for this, then we'd rather migrate elsewhere.

Hi @hroberts! Submitting this on behlaf of my customer. They mentioned that "The custom tracking domains for sales emails in Private Beta are exclusively applicable to individual 1:1 emails. We require tracking for emails sent to multiple recipients. Please help us with this.".

 

Would this featureto track emails to multiple recipients be available?

 

If not available, is this on the roadmap?

Hi @PatienceSeow ! Custom tracking domains does work for emails with multiple recipients. Please have your customer file a support ticket if they are noticing issues with this!

Hi @Jaysharma! I looked up the ticket and it is regarding open and click tracking behavior more generally, as documented on the Knowledgebase, when there are multiple recipients. I have checked the article, but the app 'superhuman' is paid. How can I try it and test it out once to see if it will be able to fulfil all our requirements or not?
