At the moment it's not possible to insert tables in the drag and drop email editor. Even if we paste table HTML in the source code, it gets stripped away when we save it.
Current workarounds include:
Add a screenshot of the table instead:
However if the email client is blocking images, this information will not show up
Use a custom module with a HTML table:
This means that for every table I want to insert in my emails, I need to create a new module
Being able to add tables to drag and drop emails will be a really useful feature to have for those want the flexibility of DnD, but still want to structure their information clearly.
Hi everyone! My name is Hallie, and I'm a Program Manager on the CXM team. I'm marking this as 'Alternative Solution' because implementing tables natively in the drag and drop email editor isn't something on the roadmap at this time. However, there are a few workarounds that can solve for this in the meantime, two of which are noted in the original post:
Take a screenshot of a table (with the data in it) and insert that into the email editor
If email clients block images, this would mean it wouldn't be visible unless the recipient adjusted their client's settings to download images automatically.
However, this option prevents any email client from rendering HTML in different ways, so your table will look consistent across various email clients.
Use a custom / HTML module to insert a table using HTML
W3schools has a helpful tutorial on setting up a basic table that you can insert into an HTML module.
Convert your CSV file
If you are using a table in a CSV file and want to paste it into a marketing email, you can follow the steps outlined in this community post to get an HTML version of your CSV table, and paste that HTML into the drag and drop editor.
We understand this has been a popular request over the years, and wanted to share alternatives that can help in the meantime. If more native table support is put on the roadmap, we'll be sure to update this post and share any news with you. Thanks for your understanding, and I hope these alternatives are helpful!
Hi Contributers, thank you for the idea and for all the feedback, This feature is not available for Marketing Email yet. We have discussed this as a team and are hoping to review this soon, but this is not planned for development in the next quarter. For transparency and clarity, I am updating this issue to 'Not currently planned' for the time being. I will update here once we have plans in place.
Amazing that as 2023 ends, this BASIC feature is still not available. I can't believe that I have to ask the people in my organization, whom I have already convinced to move to Hubspot, to go back to Outlook just to use this feature in their emails. It's embarrasing!
Neither of the two workarounds to this missing basic functionality are practical. Being able to include basic tabular information such as price options is a pretty basic part of many sales processes and this is meant to be a sales tool?
We are sending daily reports to clients with nuermical information that has to be displayed in a table. It's very frustarting that we can't use Hubspot for this, and have to keep using Outlook. We were really hoping we could optimise this process and gain all the valuable informaion of open rates etc. So we have an incomplete picture of customer enagagement as we are missing the stats from our daily emails to clients - 75% of emails coming from Hubspot and 25% from Outlook!
It really slows down adoption of HubSpot as we increasingly have to revert to Outlook for email due to Hubspot's unique inability contain a table (ideally copied and pasted from excel) that pretty much every other email client on the planet in 2024 has.
I'm shocked this isn't standard. We switched from Pardot to have more usability, and even they have the capability to insert a table into their email client.
Lame, though not a techincal term, is how I'd describe Hubspots overall response to this 4 year old request. Hubspot, time and wishful thinking won't make your shortcoming disappear.
Hi Hubspot team, Any update on this idea ? Our users are requesting it, and it would be very useful to be able to add tables to the email they send. Thanks
This is a basic feature that should have been implemented years ago. B2B companies need this function desperately. The lack of basic features for an expensive system is becoming burdonsome. The bells and whistles and shiny updates do not matter when simple functions are not prioritized.
This would be SUCH a helpful feature to have! Really wishing we could have more robust 1-to-1 email text tools in general, but inserting and editing a basic table would be crucial. (Even this very thread lets me add a table with more editing capabilities than I expected to have. 👀)
