It would be nice to see that different content can be shown based on certain contact or company properties. For example, we have our market vertical and the company's specialty which is different from their industry. I'd like to customize content for our medical provider's specialties and send a less targeted message to our software customers based on these two properties, while also taking into consideration what their lifecycle stage is.
Yes! I want to send based on location - not all of our products are available in every state, so I'm creating 7 different emails and sending to different lists when it could all be done in one email using smart rules 😞
This idea should be prioritized also because it leads to the declutterization of hubspot, generally. Actions are dispersed across the various tools right now (workflows, lists, properties) and as such, your HS can become highly cluttered with tool usage. Why create an entire list to utilize a smart rule if the only premise of the list is a property value?
This!! At the moment we need to create a list based purely on a property in order to use smart content. The ability to utilise properties to determine smart content would remove the need to create these lists making everything much cleaner and more efficient.
Adding to this, in addition to looking at specific contact or deal properties, it would be nice to be able to utilize the custom tokens that can be sent for Single Send Emails.
We need to be able to calculate in code which sort of content we'd like to display, but have the content editable by our marketing team.
Currently, we can insert strings based on relevance, but now we have to have engineering modify that text if it ever needs updating.
Ideally marketing would have complete access and control of the wording, but engineering can calculate what is relevant based on the information we're processing, and send an email with the right colors, logo, and text using customizable tokens.
I would add, for each piece of smart content, we should be able to select what property name to look for, as well as what value it would have to determine whether or not to display that content.
First of all, I am surprised that there's been no reaction from HubSpot after all these years. I've been working with HubSpot for 4 years and always wondered why this important option is missing.
Let me explain WHY it is important to have Smart Rules based on a contact property. Usually, everyone just uses List Memberships as a smart criteria and then sets necessary property/properties in their active lists. If your contact has been already added to the list, they will see the Smart Content as it should be. But if you are expecting your contact to clink on a link in an email that was sent to them before adding to the list, they will see incorrect contents on the page. A common expample: Double-Opt-In email, that is sent to new contacts instantly (and I love it) once they submit a form. When the contact clicks on a link or a button to confirm their email address, they are redirected to a confirmation page. If you want to create a Smart confirmation page (for example, in multiple languages), you can't rely on List Memberships because adding a contact to an active list can take a few minutes. So if the contact clicks on the button before they get added to the list, they will see the contents of the page in its default language (which can be very confusing). Often you use Browser based Smart Rules in cases like I described. But browser language is not the contact's language. So you either have to program the page (if you have the knowledge) or use workarounds, find compromises etc.
We need Smart Rules based on Properties. This will solve a lot of challenges we face regularly when setting up HubSpot portals or working on complex pages.
It would also be nice to have the option to make rules based on the ticket properties as well. We have several marketing emails sent to clients based on the status of a ticket but it would be nice to splice in the information that is applicable for that certain ticket/transaction. Right now sometimes I have to create 10-15 templates for one request type because there are so many if/then scenarios.
Really hard to believe this is still not possible. I would love to be able to change the content of my e-mail without having to create dozens of lists to use with the smart rules. Adding a simple if/then option is much needed! I've never worked with an ESP that makes personalizing an e-mail this cumbersome.
