Add "Contains Exactly" Workflow Logic Filter

I'm trying to build a workflow that uses the filter logic contains exactly, but that filter is only available in contact search. Workflow (and workaround contact list) filters are limited to contains or is equal to

Details: I want to assign persona values based on job title. For instance, if job title contains exactly "AR" (accounts receivable) then assign persona "accounting." Here are the problems with existing workflow logic filters when it comes to short, common character combinations (AP, CIO, CTO, etc.) using "AR" as an example:

  • If I apply filter logic "job title" contains "AR": Anyone with the character string AR in their title is incorrectly included - e.g. mARketing, ARt director, cAR salesperson, etc. Building an exclusion list of every conceivable job title that does not contain EXACTLY "AR" would be impossible.
  • If I apply filter logic "job title" is equal to "AR": This exludes titles like AR Manager, Manager of AR, AR Director, AR Specialist, etc. Likewise, building an inclusion list of every conceivable job title that IS EQUAL TO anything including exactly AR would be impossible.

Because there are thousands of non-standardize job titles that include short character combinations, it's crucial to have contains exactly workflow logic filters available.

Hubspot support suggested workaround: Search contacts filtering by "contains exactly," build lists from search results, and enroll contacts on lists in workflows. This is (1) extremely time-consuming, and (2) not scalable, since it only allows me to build static lists for existing contacts and would need to be executed regularly for every letter string that's causing issues on a regular basis.

We enroll contacts in email campaigns based on persona, so this is a crucial function!

Definitely needed. I have to do so many work arounds to locate items.

I need contains choice in all filters. My fields can have so many entry variables and contains exactly is not feasible.

I thought I was the only person having this exact problem. Did you find an alternative solution such that you do not have to add varations of every title?

Sorry I have not. Still crossing my fingers HS updates the filter to contains.

I have a similar issue, whereby I want to extrapolate an exact match from a string of values. For example, we have multiple values that contain 'notifier' but have different first words.

My goal is to copy a single-line text property value, which contains many different notifiers into a drop-down menu property that allows me to filter by selected notifiers instead of searching from within the single-line text.

Same Use case for me would be very useful

I would also be interested in this solution. Or even a workaround. I'm not sure why we can filter a list using this functionality, but can't create a workflow on it.

Please add this function to both workflows and list.

PLEASE HUBSPOT!!!! This brought me to tears yesterday. My filters in my Companies search pulled flawlessly, then I found that the workflow is wildly different. Please add the filter "contains exactly" to lists and workflows. This is an absolute must.
I now have to create 150 views, add companies to static lists, and then feed that list into a workflow. And from now, until you add this filter to workflows, I will have to manually update 150 static lists weekly....to feed into a workflow.
I'd trade all the new features this coming quarter for this filter in lists and workflows.

Please add. I'm seeing an issue in automating job function based on job titles. As an example, people with 'Quality' in there titles are getting routed to our 'IT' job function vs. our Quality one. Seeing a lot of discrepancies, giving us pause on the accuracy of our segmentation.

I am running into this same situation as well. This would be an extremely helpful feature to have
