This is technically possible, but it could be a lot better.

 

Currently, you have to go to a standard object record > associations > 'custom object name' > add > add new 'custom object name'.

 

Can we not just get this form added to the global create button? Maybe a dropdown for 'custom object records', then all the custom objects available to you?
