In emails you can add fields from Contacts and Companies, but not from Deals yet. Adding deal information is critical to setting up internal notifications.
Appreciate the detailed walk through, @VagaeNatus. This is exactly the reasoning behind these only being supported inside Deal workflows today. I can definitely see how a role-based flag or similar would be useful in this case. cc @bellawu
In saying that, the additional Deal/Ticket personalisation token options should appear inside the Insert > Personalisation token pop up for any automated email, including ones used inside Contact Workflows, but with a note explaining that they are only supported inside their corresponding workflow type. So what @angkol is seeing is likely an issue rather than a deliberate UI limitation, definitely interested in confirming.
@angkol could you shoot me a mail to shay@hubspot.com and we'll take a look at what you're seeing? It should be there, but there may be something unique about your email that hasn't been taken into consideration. Thanks!
Hi @angkol, I may be misunderstanding, but in your case this should work a-ok for you. Since you're sending an email to your customer (i.e. a contact in your CRM) you should be able to build an email in the Marketing Email tool (under Marketing > Email) and save it for use in automation (guide here) and then insert a deal token via the normal Insert > Personalisation Token menu. Once the email is published you should be able to add a step to your workflow under the External communication category, "Send email".
Hi @spogue, looping in @bellawu who works with the Workflows app itself to clarify what the plan is here to enable fully templated emails for internal notifications, unfortunately I don't know to the answer to that myself.
Re: Add deal properties to email personalization - changed to: Delivered
Hi everyone, wanted to share that this is now possible for automated emails built fordeal-based workflowsinside of HubSpot.
Now, when an email is saved for automation, the next time you open the personalisation token window, there will be Deal (and Ticket) tokens available under the Type dropdown inside the pop up window. (might require a refresh of the email editor to get them to show up, an issue we're working on).See image here.
These tokens are currently available within automated emails, which should solve almost every use case mentioned here. Unfortunately it is not possible to use these tokens inside bulk emails (i.e. non-automated emails) or Contact-based workflows as we are unable to be sure of the specific deal that should be referenced to populate the tokens, a limitation mentioned in one of the workarounds above. We hope that this solution sovles for every case, if there are use cases that are not solved we'd encourage a new idea to be posted with the use case described and we'll do our best to find a solution. Thanks again for your feedback everyone.

If you are most interested in deal personalization tokens for marketing emails, you can sign up on the form above as well and we will notify you when it becomes available.
We have the same issue here, and it is liable to make the management team choose a different CRM if I am honest.
Desperate for a fix or workaround for this!
My current potential workaround is to inject crucial information such as unbound deal information into the contact record using existing APIs
"Hi [contact name] you created these deals: [XXXX,XXXX,XXXX] within the last 60 days but did not complete sales process"
Another suggestion which has been made by external advisor here is to use the transactional email functionality, but imo this is tantamount to us sending the email from the API application itself...
Deal Properties in notification emails will help me send 'Amount" booked. This is a big motivation for the team. It is very difficult to "explain" why I can have some information on the email and cant have the rest. It just makes me look bad.
I agree with everyone who has posted here. Being able to get personalized deal tokens is really important. I'm surprised that Hubspot has not resolved this already. I hope they take care of this soon.
I'm really surprised this hasn't been fixed. It needs to be done asap so we can send our customers automated emails using email templates with deal tokens.

So, apparently, this cannot help me yet. Not until we can also have deal tokens in the marketing platform.
My goal was to create a workflow in sales that sent an auto email upon a deal being moved to closed. This auto email would have deal information on it for all internal parties such as customer success, billing, management.
Well, I can create the template with deal tokens in the sales platform but I cannot attach it to a workflow. The Hubspot customer success team said it's not possible to attach the email deal template to the workflow because email templates come from the marketing platform.
When will the deal tokens be available for the marketing platform??
Jrahn38 I had the same issue. I solved it with a work around. Basically I used Zapier to API the variable fields into an email template and set the zap to execute when the deal stage is set to closed. In Zapier you can set up multiple email addresses to receive the deal information.
This functionality is something that would drastically help. Was extremely disappointed that this isn't native right now. In all honesty - it's pushing us to switch CRMs.
Using Deal tokens in email templates would help us internally alert managers when deals are created or deals move stages. This is a far superior way than the "follow" functionality recently implemented for a contact. Looking forward to Deal tokens in emails.
I was creating new templates and realize there are categories for personalization tokes now, deals included. This is awesome. Thanks Hubspot for listening our prayers. Some of them don't work properly yet but I am sure you are working to fix this 😃
That's great @Eumari! Unfortunately I still do not see it in the Marketing emails personalization tokens section even though we've signed up for the beta.
This is crucial. We're creating a deal against a contact and then should be able to send those details through to marketing and customers. Should be core.
